Recently surfaced reports throw some important light on the much awaited JEE Main 2021 and NEET UG 2021 exams. As per media chatter of today, the following important revelations have been made.
#1. The JEE Main 2021 April session exam can be held around July 25, 2021.
#2. After that, the JEE Main 2021 May session exam is likely to be held around August 15, 2021.
#3. The two deferred session exams of JEE Mains, will be held within 25 days of each other.
#4. Likewise, the exam date for NEET UG 2021 is being mulled to be either in the last week of August 2021, or first week of September 2021.
#5. The final decision on at least exam dates of JEE Mains are going to be announced by June 30, 2021, as per today’s reports.
On one hand, all these points have only been collated in news reports. On the other hand, the recent RTI reply by NTA confirmed that the National Testing Agency is indeed strengthening its stand on postponing NEET exam.
Nevertheless, the important point to note is that NTA and other officials can only take a final call for JEE Main 2021, as well as NEET UG 2021 once all state boards firmly clarify their stand on board exams. At this moment, states including Assam and Andhra Pradesh have not announced whether they will finally hold board exams or not. If they hold board exams, then their board exams will be in July and August both months, that can further derail the schedule for the national level UG engineering and medical entrance exams.
Another fact is that CBSE now has only 2 weeks to submit the final assessment criteria for evaluation of the merit of class 12 candidates. CBSE has the deadline of June 17 from the Supreme Court to submit the assessment criteria as per the Supreme Court’s guidelines.
Both the JEE Main and the NEET UG exams are conducted by the National Testing Agency. While the NTA has already conducted the first two sessions of the JEE Mains, the NEET 2021 exam is as of now officially scheduled to be held on August 01, 2021. NTA postponed the April and May sessions of the engineering entrance exam on account of the pandemic earlier and announced that the revised exam dates will be announced with at least 15 days time in hand.
Candidates must note that no confirmation of the official exam dates has been received from the National Testing Agency as of now. The speculated exam dates are as per the latest media reports and turn of events regarding the class 12 results this year. It may also be noted that the Andhra Pradesh state government has reportedly requested the centre to hold the JEE and NEET 2021 exams as the state are considering conducting the board exams this year, in contrast to the fact that most states have cancelled the board exams this year.
