JEE Advanced 2021 examination is all set to be conducted on October 03, 2021. This year, the organizing institute for the entrance examination is IIT Kharagpur. With the completion of the registration process, it’s now time for the students to focus on their preparation. To excel in the exam, it is essential to develop a smart strategy. So, here we are going to discuss the subject-wise tips and tricks that can prove to be very helpful during the preparation stage.
Starting with Physics, one of the important chapters is Ray Optics because it has the maximum weightage. This is followed by Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Capacitor, EMI and Magnetism. Although Modern Physics is a simple chapter, ensure that one revises it regularly because a fixed number of questions from this chapter is asked every year. From the topics of class 11, give special importance to Rotation and Heat and Thermodynamics.
Moving to Mathematics, make sure that the candidate has a good grasp of Coordinate Geometry from class 11. However, practice Ellipse, Hyperbola and Parabola in depth because a majority of questions are asked from these three portions. Similarly, give more importance to the chapter on Integration from class 12. If one has a good grasp of this chapter, then they can easily do the chapters on Differential Equation and Area under Curve. Matrices & Determinant, although comparatively simple, has a high weightage.
Chemistry is divided into three sections: Physical, Organic and Inorganic. From Physical Chemistry, start with Atomic Structure because a lot of formula-based questions are asked. Then, move on to Mole Concept and Gaseous State. Next, give equal importance to Solutions, Electrochemistry and Chemical Kinetics from class 12. Every year, around 1 to 2 questions get asked from these three chapters. 3 to 4 hours of revision will be enough for Surface Chemistry.
Other than Blocks have a clear idea of Periodicity, Chemical Bonding, Coordination Compound and Metallurgy in Inorganic Chemistry. The trick is to remember the processes because that will help one to fetch marks easily. However, for Blocks, start with P-Block and focus on Nitrogen and Oxygen families. Then move on to the rest.
Every chapter in organic chemistry is somewhat linked with one another. Among the important chapters, firstly, be thorough with General Organic Chemistry, Stereoisomersism and Reaction Mechanism. Biomolecules won’t take much time but do not forget to touch upon them.
An important trick for JEE Advanced is to strengthen the already prepared subjects. This helps in getting a good score in the examination. So, during this final stage of preparation, do not go after the entire syllabus but cover up the important topics in detail. Next, pick up any book on the previous year questions and solve the questions related to the important topics. Ideally, question papers from 2013 to 2020 should be enough.
For effective preparation, follow the notes first, then go through the books and lastly, solve the previous year questions. This trajectory can help one to get a good understanding of the questions and concepts as a whole.
At this point of time, if one is done with the syllabus, solved the books and revised the notes, then two mock tests every day should be enough. Experts suggest that a break of one day between two test days is ideal. While taking these mock tests, try to simulate the exam-day situation.
