Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur is all set to conduct the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2021 examination on October 03, 2021. The exam will be held for the top 2,50,000 rankers of the JEE Main 2021 exam through the computer-based format. These top rankers will get an opportunity to fight for a seat in the prestigious IITs located across the country. Clearly, the heat is on and the competition is increasing with every passing day. As the exam approaches, here are some do’s and don’ts which all candidates should make a note on –
JEE Advanced 2021: Things to DO before the exam
# Segregate the questions into three types.
While preparing for the JEE Advanced 2021 examination, previous year question papers may have certain similarities such as significant weightage given to one chapter, a question or concept repeating itself in multiple papers, etc. The key is to recognise these similarities and focus on them before the exam. After solving the JEE Advanced previous-year papers, candidates must have already segregated the questions into three types – easy, difficult/tricky and never to attempt. Candidates must make sure to use this analysis while solving mock exams and the final exam to score the maximum marks.
# Focus on comprehension or paragraph questions.
The JEE Advanced 2021 examination will contain comprehension questions wherein a paragraph will be provided. Based on this paragraph, candidates will have to answer multiple questions. These questions may be time-consuming, lengthy or even inter-lined. However, if they understand the crux of such questions, they can easily score well in these questions. Hence, candidates must make sure to dedicate time to such questions.
# Solve previous-year question papers
JEE Advanced questions asked in previous years are important and can help candidates to increase their knowledge base and think outside the box. Now that they have reached the last stage of preparation, candidates must go all out and solve as many previous year questions as possible. While the exam pattern has changed over the years, the difficulty level is the same. Hence, don’t leave any stone unturned solve questions asked in the year 1990 and after.
# Carry the prescribed documents to the exam centre.
Candidates appearing for the JEE Advanced 2021 examination must carry two important documents to the exam centre – 1. JEE Advanced 2021 Admit Card and 2. Valid Photo ID such as Passport, PAN Card, Driving License, Aadhar card, etc. Only after showing these documents will a candidate be allowed to enter the exam centre.
JEE Advanced 2021: Things one should NOT DO before the exam
# Don’t study a new or tricky topic before the exam.
The most important DON’T before an important and crucial exam such as JEE Advanced 2021 is to never study a new topic before the exam. The entrance exam already covers a vast syllabus and so, recalling this portion already is a tough ability to conquer. Starting a topic on top of this is like digging a hole for oneself. Instead, use this time to revise important mathematical formulae or chemical reactions. If not revision, solve a mock exam for extra practice. These are better alternatives than starting a new topic from scratch.
# Don’t aim to solve the entire paper.
In any competitive exam, the aim to reduce the negative marking rather than scoring full. JEE Advanced 2021 examination is no exception to this mindset. Hence, candidates must never to aim to solve the entire paper. Life mentioned before, go through the entire paper and segregate questions into easy, difficult and never to attempt. Spend more time on the first two categories and IF time permits, attempt the last section.
# Don’t impersonate, imitate anyone or resort to any unfair means.
During the JEE Advanced 2021 examination, candidates must be concerned with their own documents and their question paper. Peeking into other’s paper or communicating with other candidates may lead to disciplinary action. Aspirants must strive to maintain the right decorum during the entire duration of the exam.
Have faith in the months’ of preparation more than last-minute superficial revision. All the best!
