Is CBSE waiting for final NEET vs Open Hearing To Release NEET 2018 Admit Card?

Final hearing on eligibility of students in National Eligibility cum Entrance Test is on April 16. CBSE might be waiting for that final result so that it can issue NEET 2018 admit card only to those candidates who will be eligible to appear in exam. Therefore, there are high chances of admit cards releasing on or after April 16, instead of previously stated April second week.

On February 28, 2018, the Delhi High Court provided interim relief to thousands of students who were earlier deemed ineligible for NEET 2018. Students from open schools, and students being older than upper age limit became eligible. However, this is temporary until made final in final hearing.

Legal definition of interim relief is grant of something to give short-term help, or an order by the court before a full trial to preserve the current situation until the trial.

Thus, this order, of making said students eligible is only temporary as of now. Final hearing for it is on April 16.

So this brings us to the question of whether or not Central Board of Secondary Education is waiting for final hearing of this case to issue admit cards. It is logical, if the board is waiting.

NEET 2018 admit card will be a document containing roll number, exam centre, and other details. It will be compulsory to bring it to exam hall on day of exam. While issuance of hall ticket is not a direct implication of deeming a candidate eligible, but say a student is issued admit card, but later as per court orders he/she becomes ineligible, then how will authorities at NEET 2018 exam centers know whether or not to allow those students to appear in exam?

In NEET exam, more than 10 lakh students have applied. Of this, thousands are those who either belong to open school or are older than upper age limit, or studied biology as an additional subject. If they are deemed to be eligible as per final hearing, then all will get admit cards. If contrary judgement is passed, making them ineligible, then probably only others will get admit cards.

It is disconcerting to all students to wait so long for their hall tickets. Whereas getting it per se is not difficult, and can be downloaded any time, even one day before exam, however it is more convenient if students can check hall ticket sooner to know where their exam centers are.

CBSE NEET UG 2018 will be held on May 6, 2018. Entry in exam hall shall start at 7:30 AM. Invigilator will check admit cards from 7:30 AM to 9:45 AM. Last entry in exam hall will be at 9:30 AM. Then test booklets will be distributed at 9:45 AM. Candidates can only open test booklet seals and take out answer sheet at 9:55 AM. Exam shall start at 10 AM and end at 1 PM.

OMR answer sheets and NEET 2018 answer key will be displayed at cbseneet.nic.in after exam. Candidates can then check all answers and their recorded responses.

NEET 2018 result will be announced on June 5, 2018. Result of CBSE NEET UG 2018 shall be used for admission to MBBS, BDS programs in all MCI and DCI approved medical and dental colleges in India, except AIIMS and JIPMER.
