Candidates who are waiting for their class 12th result are also eligible to apply, if they meet the prescribed eligibility criteria. While submitting the application form they can select the option of “Result Awaited”.
Indian Institute of Science Education & Research (IISER) Aptitude Test 2021 (IAT) has been scheduled on September 17, 2021, Friday. The application portal for those appearing through the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) stream and the State and Central Boards (SCB) stream (through the IAT) will remain open till 31 August, 2021.
The process of application as given in the official website iiseradmission.in is in two steps, “Registration” followed by “Application”. Home page of the IISER has a link under “Important Notice”. This will guide the candidate onto the page where links for Registration and Application are given. The candidates need to go through the FAQ provided in the link, this may help in filling up the form accurately.
The Registration Form is to be filled to obtain User ID and password. A valid mobile number is to be provided along with an email ID. All fields marked * are to be filled up mandatorily. Once the fields are completed, one needs to click on the Submit button. The candidate will get User ID and password on mobile and email that have been registered. Candidates are advised to change the password after logging in for the first time.
After registration, the candidates need to fill in the Application Form. The candidate needs to provide photo (maximum 200 KB in JPEG or JPG format), signature (maximum 200 KB in JPEG or JPG format), marks sheet for twelfth class or equivalent (maximum 1 MB either in PDF, JPEG or JPG format), category certificate if applicable ((maximum 1 MB either in PDF, JPEG or JPG format). Additional documents that may be required further are Photo ID, Kashmiri Migrants Certificate, medical certificate for PwD or OCI/PIO certificate (last three required if applicable).
Please note that the application will be complete only after paying the fees online. The application fees are non-refundable. For General, EWS and OBC-NCL candidates application fees are Rs. 2000. For candidates falling under Person with Disability or SC/ST category, the fees are Rs. 1000. The application fee for foreign nationals is USD 100.
Eligibility criterion for admission to IISERs this year will stand at 60% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade for GEN/OBC/OBC-NCL and 55% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade for SC/ST/PWD in class XII or equivalent examination for candidates of science stream from all eligible boards. The candidates who still await their board exam results may still appear for IAT. If selected, they will be admitted subject to their fulfillment of the criteria mentioned above.
IAT is a national level aptitude test conducted by IISER. It is a five year dual degree program for science students. The aptitude test is a computer based test of three hours duration. Sixty questions come in MCQ format. Sixty questions are broken up into fifteen questions from each subject, which are Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics. A correct answer carries three marks, for each incorrect answer one mark will be deducted.
