Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI) issued a notification on May 31, 2021, announcing the indefinite postponement of the Foundation, Intermediate and Final Couse examination in June 2021. The public notice was published on the official website icmai.in. According to the notice, the examination for June 2021 was postponed due to the ongoing COVID19 conditions. Furthermore, the registration deadline for all course exams had been extended to May 30, 2021, without any late fee.

The second wave of COVID-19 created a havoc in the country, forcing universities, agencies and institutions to postpone their entrance exams. Various states imposed stricter lockdowns to curb the spread of the virus. Now that, the country is recovering from the pandemic, states are adamant on extending the restrictions for longer periods to prevent a relapse. Taking this into cognisance, ICMAI decided to postpone the exams indefinitely.
As per the notification released yesterday, May 31, 2021, the rescheduled dates for each exam shall be notified in due course of time. Since the exam has been postponed, authorities have planned to reopen the registration process. Therefore, candidates who could not register for the exams can do so soon, on the official website icmai.in. However, the candidates who have already registered for the June 2021 session are also entitled to appear for the exams on the rescheduled days. They are not required to register again. The same point was also clarified in the notification.
ICMAI on May 21, 2021, had released the exam dates for the Foundation, Intermediate and Final exams for the June 2021 session. Accordingly, the Foundation papers were to be conducted on July 23, 2021, in two sessions. Paper 1 and Paper 2 were scheduled from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm whereas Paper 3 and Paper 4 were to be organised from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
Authorities were scheduled to conduct the Intermediate and Final exams from July 26 to August 02, 2021. Intermediate exams were to be held from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm for Groups I and II. Final exams were scheduled on the same dates but from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm for Groups III and IV. However, the exams have now been postponed indefinitely.
ICMAI has not provided any tentative schedule or inkling about new exam dates. However, it is clear that the exams shall be conducted only after the COVID19 situation in India normalises completely. Once the situation stabilises, central and state governments shall ease the lockdown or restrictions imposed. This will help candidates commute to their examination centres without any inconvenience. Till any official announcement, candidates are advised to check the official website consistently to get their queries resolved.
