The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSEB) has declared mass promotion to the students of classes 9 and 11. In this regard notice for uniform result preparation for these classes has been issued by the board on gseb.org. The board has also issued guidelines on how to provide the school leaving certificates (SLC) to the students who need it.
The decision of mass promotion has been put in effect because of the COVID-19 pandemic due to which the schools are under shut down. The notice came after an inquiry was made on how the students of class 9 and 11 studying in Government aided and Non-aided schools will get the results, what kind of mark sheets to be given, and how to get the school leaving certificates (SLC) for students who need a change of school.
Thus, the board has defined guidelines to maintain consistency in the details to be shown in the result sheet of all the schools of the state as well as in the details to be shown in the School Leaving Certificate (SLC).
In this regard, GSEB has released a notice explaining the process of promotion for a) subjects where first examination, second examination, annual examination, and internal assessment have been done before the shutdown. b) Subjects where first examination, second examination, and internal assessment are done but the annual exam is yet to be held. c) Subjects for which examination is taken only once a year that is the annual examination and which has not been held yet.
The preparation for the result for both 3 cases above depends on various factors like scaling of scores wherever needed, grace marking as required, and other factors. For all these cases the preparation of the result as described by GSEB will be as follows:
