Indian Institute of Delhi (IIT-D) has announced Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2020 Exam Date. The examination will be held in a window of 4 days and the exam dates are February 01, 02, 08, and 09, 2020. It will be held two sessions, which will be from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and 2:30 pm and 5:30 pm. The online registration will start from September 03, 2019.
The conducting body announced the exam date for GATE 2020 on the official website, which is gate.iitd.ac.in. Along with the exam date, the poster for the exam has also been released. The brochure for the examination will be released soon.
Registration for GATE can be done online, from the login which is GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS). Only eligible candidates are invited to apply for the examination. The criteria of eligibility differs from subject to subject. However, the basic requirement is that the candidate should be a degree holder in require field.
To apply, the candidates need to register by entering e-mail id, phone number, and few basic details. Once registered, the candidates will be able to fill personal, educational, and communication details in the application form of GATE 2020.
To submit the form properly, the candidates will also have to pay application fee. It is Rs. 750 for SC /ST / PwD / Transgender / Female candidates and Rs. 1500 for General and OBC candidates. The mode to pay the application fee are online, i.e. through Net Banking, Credit Card, Debit Card.
IIT-D has also revealed that there will be 25 subject paper instead of 24. It is expected that the new addition will be Biomedical Engineering. Last year, Statistics (ST) was added in the list of subject papers and now there is another addition.
GATE is a national level examination. However, this year, the exam will also be held in 6 international centers which will be at Addis Abbaba, Colombo, Dhaka, Kathmandu, Dubai, and Singapore.
Each candidates can only appear for 1 subject paper of GATE 2020. The exam will be of 3 hours and in that duration, the candidates will have to attempt 65 questions. Out of these, 10 questions will be from GA and rest from the subject paper. The questions will be of multiple choice questions and numerical answer type and these will be of 1 or 2 marks. There will be negative marking for MCQs but no marks are deducted for incorrect NTA questions.
The subject papers of GATE are – CY, ME, MN, TF, CS, CH, AE, AG, AR, BT, EY, IN, MA, MT, PE, PH, PI, ST, EC, EE, CE, GG, XE, and XL. The paper code for Biomedical Engineering is yet to be announced.
