In the past few weeks, Twitter has witnessed an influx of comments, demanding for the postponement of NEET 2022. This postponement demand is largely due to the scheduling of three crucial entrance exams in July 2022 – CUET, NEET and JEE Main session 2. While exam dates for the Central University Entrance test (CUET) 2022 have not been announced, tentative schedule specifies the first or second week of July 2022. With the CBSE Class 12 board exams ending on June 15, 2022, candidates are heading for a hectic next month.
Interestingly, the National Testing Agency (NTA) is the conducting body for all three exams. The agency is yet to resolve or even respond to the incessant protests happening online, particularly on the micro-blogging website.
Expected Exam Schedule for July 2022
The National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) 2022 is all set to be conducted on July 17, 2022. This year too, the UG medical exam will be held in a single session, with some changes introduced in the paper pattern. These changes are an attempt to provide some relief to tensed students.
Unlike last year when JEE main was held four times, this year, the number of attempts has been reduced to two. While session 1 is scheduled from June 20 to 29, 2022, session 2 is going to be conducted from June 21 to 30, 2022 i.e., just three days after NEET 2022.
As mentioned before, CUET 2022 is going to be held between July 01 to 14, 2022, 3 days prior to NEET 2022, if the later date is taken into consideration.
Students giving 2 or more entrance exams
There is a high possibility of candidates giving more than 2 entrance exams, with the hope of getting into a good college for the desired profession course. The following groups of common students can get affected due to the hectic July 2022 schedule –
Group 1: Students giving both NEET 2022 and JEE Main 2022 session 2
Group 2: Students giving both NEET and CUET UG 2022
Group 3: Those appearing for JEE Main session 2 and CUET 2022
Group 4: Students giving all three exams
Undoubtedly, candidates belonging to group 4 are likely to get affected the most. With the uncertainty of CUET 2022 looming in the head, students may not get respite till July fourth week, if this hectic schedule persists.
NEET UG 2022 postponement demands escalate
In the past few weeks, hashtags like #MODIJIdeferNEETUG and #NTADeferNEETUG have been constantly trending on Twitter, with demands for postponement escalating every day. While students have provided multiple reasons for NEET 2022 postponement, the hectic July 2022 schedule dominates others.
Most students want the NEET 2022 entrance exam to get rescheduled to Mid-August or early September 2022. This will provide students an additional 3-4 weeks of preparation time. It will also provide some relief from the July 2022 schedule which most students dread.
As of now, neither the NTA nor the Education Ministry has official responded to these concerns. With no signs of postponement shown by both entities, candidates are advised to gear-up for the upcoming month, without bringing their morale down.
