The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has changed the exam pattern for the upcoming Upcoming Teacher Eligibility Test 2021 (CTET). In an official press release, published CBSE on the official website ctet.nic.in, it is stated that the upcoming CTET 2021 exam will be held in an online mode. Also, the question paper pattern has been changed. From the next CTET exam, the question paper will be focused on more application-based and conceptual questions.

CBSE has announced that to have a high rate of computer literacy among the upcoming generation of teachers, it is necessary to conduct the CTET 2021 exam in an online mode instead of pen-paper mode. Earlier, the CTET exam was conducted in an offline mode, due to which wastage of paper was more because of the printing of question papers and OMR sheets. So, to restrict paper wastage and to promote computer literacy among the teachers, CBSE has decided to conduct CTET 2021 exam as a computer-based test.

This year CBSE has also revised the exam pattern of CTET 2021. Earlier the exam was based on more factual questions but from 2021 onwards, the question paper is going to be conceptual. The paper will be prepared to assess the different cognitive skills of the candidates i.e critical thinking, application-based knowledge, reasoning, and problem-solving skills. As per the revised exam pattern of the CTET 2021 exam, more weightage is to be given on assessing the different attributes such as content knowledge, understanding of teaching a particular subject, conceptual clarity, and use of different teaching and learning resources.

CBSE will soon release the detailed framework based on the revised exam pattern of the CTET 2021 exam along with the sample questions, measurable competencies and sample blueprints. Till then, candidates can pay attention to the following points while preparing for the CTET 2021 exam:

  • While studying, candidates should pay attention to the applications of the given theories and practice as many applications as possible.
  • Candidates should study every concept from all sides such as its evolution, history, phenomenon, effects, and applications.

As of now, the final dates for CTET 2021 exam are not released but the press release says that it will be conducted in the month of December 2021 or January 2022. The organizing authority will soon release the official notification regarding the application process of CTET 2021 on its official website ctet.nic.in.
