Tomorrow, January 08, 2019, marks the beginning of the JEE Main 2019 Exam. National Testing Agency (NTA) is conducting the exam for the first time. Thus, there are a lot of expectations and new changes, from taking the exam in the online mode, installing jammers at the centers to avoid malpractices and so on.

The JEE Main 2019 Admit Card has been issued, candidates who are to appear in the exam tomorrow must get the admit card downloaded from the official website, jeemain.nic.in. A printed copy of the admit card is to be taken at the exam centers.

The exam is being conducted in two shifts over a period of 5 days – January 08, 09, 10, 11 and 12, 2019. The paper 2 will be conducted in one day only -January 08, 2019. The two shift timings are – 9:30 Am to 12:30 PM and 2:30 PM to 12:30 PM.

Since tomorrow is the D-Day here are 7 crucial points to note down:

#1 Carry Admit Card with an extra photograph and Original ID proof: Candidates have been instructed by NTA to carry the hardcopy of their admit card with a passport size image that is same as the one uploaded on the application form. Also a valid ID proof is a mandate for verification purposes. Carry any one of these – Aadhaar card/PAN card/Voter’s ID Card/Ration Card/Driving License/School Id card etc.

#2 Nationwide strike on January 08 and 09, 2019: There are reports of trade union strike at the national level on January 08 and 09, 2019. There is no word of rescheduling of the JEE Main 2019 exam or the strike. The transport is said to remain affected on these days, Thus, the candidates are requested to arrange for their travel accordingly for the exam centers.

#3 Dress Code for the exam: NTA has not issued any dresscode. However, it is recommended that you wear something very simple, with less metallic elements and pockets. This will help you to go through the frisking process easily and in less time.

#4 Time: Reaching the exam center on time is a must. The exam schedule is given in the table below. Reaching in time will help the candidates to know the pre-exam instructions by the invigilators. Check the table below for the JEE Main 2019 timings:

#5 Frisking at the exam centers: At the exam centers frisking will be done at a very strict level. Thus make sure you are not carrying any prohibited item like pieces of papers, electronic devices, food items, gadgets, cell phones, calculators, stationary items etc.

#6 Paper 2 candidates can carry these items: All the JEE Main 2019 Paper 2 candidates are allowed to carry geometry box, pencil, eraser, and colors (except for watercolors). Apart from these, there is no exception for the paper 2 appearing candidates.

#7 Jammers at the exam centers: There will be 1 jammer installed for every 24 candidates at the JEE main 2019 exam centers. last year many reports were made on candidates using gadgets to cheat at the centers. Thus NTA came up with this precaution to abolish use to internet-based gadget at the centers to cheat.

National Testing Agency is the newly formed body that is now responsible to conduct the JEE Main exam twice a year and in online mode only. The next JEE Main 2019 exam will be held in the month of April 2019.

You have mentioned wrong info in the first point itself. School ID card will not be considered as ID proof as it is strictly mentioned in the admit card and also in the notification issued by NTA.
