Government of India (GOI) has announced that CBSE class 12 board exams are hereby cancelled. The decision has been taken by officials in the high ranking meeting chaired by PM Narendra Modi, today, in the evening. The decision to cancel 12th exams has been made official vide press release from the PM Office.
After CBSE, the boards that have followed suit and also announced that they are cancelling board exams are – CISCE, and Haryana (HBSE).

Haryana Board Exam 2021 Cancelled, Education Minister Kanwar Pal Announces
The government of Haryana has also decided to follow in the footsteps of CBSE, and announced that they have cancelled class 12 board exams 2021. Haryana education Minister, Kunwar Pal told PTI a short while ago, “We have also decided to cancel the Class 12 board exams in the state which were to be conducted by the Haryana Board of School Education. Maharashtra HSC Board Latest Announcement 2021 Out, Varsha Gaikwad Says Wants To Go For Non Examination Route
State Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad posted shortly after decision of CBSE 12th exams cancellation was announced, that they want to go for non examination route for Maharashtra HSC 12th board exams 2021. A decision is expected soon.
She says, “In view of the current status of the pandemic, projections that children are vulnerable to newer strains and the anxiety among them, the Maharashtra government had demanded that a “Non Examination Route” be considered for Std XIIth students.“

Class 12th Board Exam 2021: Another Plea in Supreme Court To Cancel Exams, and Give Uniform Assessment Criteria
Child rights activist Anubha Srivastava, with 7 more appellants, have filed a plea in Supreme Court. The plea seeks to cancel class 12 exams in physical format, in all state boards, and NIOS. The plea is on behalf of 47 students who belong to 23 different states, 2 UTs, and 3 different countries.
A uniform assessment criteria to calculate class 12 results, upon cancellation of exams, has also been sought. Moreover the plea states that for the purpose of higher education admissions, an aptitude test of some sorts can be organized.

CBSE Board Exam 2021: Arvind Kejriwal Tweets In Support of Students, Says Board Exams Should Be Cancelled and Result Should Be Announced On Basis of Past Performance
Arvind Kejriwal tweeted his appeal to the government to cancel class 12 board exams 2021 today. He said that stakeholders are worried about exposing students without vaccination. CBSE Board Exam 2021: Students point that while ministers are holding meetings online, students should not be forced to come to exam centers
For any board exam, at least 10 to 20 students will have to sit together in one room. Even with masks and SOPs inside the center, there is no way to ensure complete safety if exams are held online. Considering that ministers too are holding meetings online, students think it is unfair that young children will be forced to come to centers for board exams.

In a latest development, it has been revealed that PM Modi will organize a meeting today evening to discuss upon class 12th board exams. He will be informed of all the possible routes pertaining to conduct or cancellation of exams.
As per reports, the government is considering holding exams for major subjects, in August and September months. Another option they have thought of is to have exams twice – if student is unable to appear in one due to health issues, then he/she can sit for the second attempt. Also tests can be of 90 minutes, at home centers.

WBCHSE Notification Shared on Social Media Says WB HS Exam Routine 2021 in Annexure 1, 2; Exam from 23 July
A notification has been doing the rounds on social media since yesterday. The notice claims to have the WB HS exam routine 2021 in its annexure 1 and annexure 2.

As per the notice, the following important points will apply to WB HS exam 2021. However note, that none of the points have yet been announced officially.
- WB HS exams will start on July 23, 2021, and end on August 3, 2021. Complete schedule is claimed to be in annexure 1 of the notice, which was not shared on social media.
- The exam will be held for 15 language subjects, and 16 elective subjects.
- Exam timings will be 12 noon to 1:30 pm every day.
- The exams for class 12 students will be held at home centers.
- All the papers will be completed within 9 working days.
- There will be no examination for 19 subjects. The list of these subjects is supposedly in annexure 2 of the notice, which was also not available on social media platforms where the first page of the notice was shared.
- Tests will have part A and part B, like every year.
- Admit card will be released on July 12, 2021, at the home centers.
At the moment, the official version of the notice is not available. The authenticity of the notification is hence, unverified. The details mentioned in it therefore have equal probability of being valid or invalid.

Students have been pleading to cancel board exams for a long time now. Over 50% of those who support cancellation of exams say that they fear getting infected if exams happen offline. Another fear is that not all who are infected are able to get proper medical facilities. After reports came in today that the Education Minister has been hospitalized due to COVID complications, students are reiterating their logic for exam cancellation.
A student has nicely put into words, his argument on why exam should be cancelled, based on the Education Minister’s current status. He says “Sir we don’t have this VIP facilities and we are not rich like you. It is really difficult for a middle class family to get good treatment please think about it . Hope for your speedy recovery and a good decision“

As per recent report in leading dailies, the data of 78463 students is missing from the portal used by education department of Maharashtra, SARAL. Short for Systematic Administrative Reforms for Achieving & Learning, SARAL is supposed to be the central point for compilation of Maharashtra SSC result 2021, where schools are entering data of class 9th and 10th marks as per the result criteria announced by the state education minister, Varsha Gaikwad.

AIIMS officials have just confirmed to ANI that the country’s education minister, Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has been admitted to AIIMS due to complications in health that have arisen after COVID. Here’s wishing him a speedy recovery.

Ironically, most of the responses to the tweet posted by ANI are from students and other stakeholders who are waiting for decision on board exams. Karnataka Board Exam 2021: Suresh Kumar Says 12th Exam Important, May Be Online, 2nd PUC Exam Time Table 2021 Soon, SSLC Students Demand Cancellation of 10th Exams
As per the latest news reports, Karnataka Pre University Education (PUE) department is considering the feasibility of holding 2nd PUC exams 2021 in an online mode. The suggestions being considered include holding the exam of 90 minutes only, taking exams of major subjects only, with multiple choice questions. However by and large, there are high chances that the class 12 board exams will be held, and not cancelled. After a decision on the matter, Karnataka board will release the 2nd PUC public exam time table.
At the same time, students of SSLC class 10th are demanding that the exam be cancelled. A chief reason being cited by students is that they did not have enough proper classes to sit for the board exams.

Chhattisgarh CGBSE Class 12 Exams Begin Today
Chhattisgarh is conducting exam from home, for class 12 students. Students can go from today to June 5, 2021, to take question paper from exam center, with the admit card that was released yesterday. Then they have to submit the answers within 5 days of taking the paper. In Priyanka Gandhi’s letter to the Education Minister, she has urged the center to adopt the same model for CBSE, ICSE, and other state board class 12 exams.

Kerala Plus One Public Exam Time Table Released
The Kerala Department of Higher Secondary Education (DHSE) has announced the time table for plus one examinations. Exams for first year higher secondary examination will be held from September 6 to 16, 2021. The complete schedule is as follows.

Rapid developments unfolded today, amidst the nationwide debate on conduct of board exams in 2021. Today, the day started with students waking up to DHSE Kerala’s yesterday’s announcement of plus one exam date. Then GSEB announced the class 10, 12 time table 2021. The new time table is for all HSC students. However SSC exams are cancelled for regular students, though dates have been announced for repeater and private students.
Then came the shocking news of Education Minister being admitted in AIIMS due to post covid complications. As soon as the breaking news reached the masses, shortly after that came another breaking story that PM Modi will chair an important high level meeting today to be briefed about all the possibilities regarding CBSE, ICSE, and other state boards class 12 exams. And within 90 minutes of the meeting having started, news broke that class 12 board exams have been cancelled.
On one hand, Advocate Mamta Sharma is fighting on behalf of crores of students of the country with the plea to cancel exams. On the other hand, CBSE, ICSE, and state boards are releasing individual decisions one by one. The Attorney General asked the Supreme Court to give time till Thursday to present his case. The Supreme Court in turn has asked them to give tangible reason as to why the board exams should be held. The big decision has thus been put on hold till 3rd June.
