CBSE Class 12 Maths Sample Paper 2020 available for download at cbseacademic.nic.in

It is recommended by the board, and the rest of academia, that all students who have mathematics as a subject in 10+2, must go through the official sample paper well before the exam. This is one of the essential aspects of board exam preparations.

CBSE Class 12 Maths Sample Paper 2020

Of the many subjects that give students sleepless nights, mathematics tops the list. An at times rational, at times irrational fear grips the minds of many students right before their maths exams. And the panic escalates like a geometric progression, in the final year of schooling. Thus, many might agree that for class 12th students of CBSE board who will appear in the February-March 2020 exams, the mathematics exam is the most dreaded of all.

One of the many ways to get over this feeling is to be better prepared, using the CBSE class 12 maths sample paper 2020 that is now available for download. The Central Board of Secondary Education has published the mathematics sample paper, its marking scheme, and the detailed curriculum on its official website cbseacademic.nic.in. The curriculum was published earlier, and the sample paper came later; and as per CBSE, the sample paper gives an exact idea of the paper and not the curriculum, and there could be slight differences in the two.

The CBSE Class 12 Maths Sample Paper 2020 makes the exam pattern, and distribution of questions clear.

The CBSE class 12 mathematics question paper 2020 will be of 80 marks in total. Exam duration will be 3 hours. In the sample paper, and so will be in the actual paper, there are 4 sections A, B, C, D.

Section A has 20 questions of 1 mark each, a total of 20 marks. Section B has 6 questions of 2 marks each, therefore overall 12 marks. Then section C has 6 questions of 4 marks each, so total 24 marks. And section D has 4 questions of 6 marks each, totalling 24 marks. There are internal choices in 3 questions of 1-mark type, 2 questions of 2-mark variety, in 2 questions of 4-marks category, and 2 questions of 6-marks questions section.

In the sample paper of CBSE class 12 mathematics exam, for the 2020 exams, questions 1 to 10 are multiple choice questions. That is in these questions, the question is followed by 4 options with single correct answer. Then questions 11 to 15 are fill in the blanks type. And questions 16 to 20 are calculation based.

Calculators are not allowed in CBSE board exam 2020.

Will there be step marking in CBSE class 12 maths paper?

Is an often asked question. The marking scheme published by the board makes it clear that for several questions, there are step marking. There will also be marks for figure. For some of the shorter-answer variety questions, the marking scheme shows that marks are overall for solving the question and arriving at the answer. For longer questions, the marking scheme also shows how many marks will be given for which steps and which figure.

Chapter wise weightage, for the class 12 mathematics exam, could be as explained in the CBSE curriculum.

The curriculum says that the CBSE class 12 mathematics question paper 2020 will have questions worth certain fixed marks from each unit. As per it, there will be questions worth 8 marks from relations and functions, 10 marks from algebra, 35 marks from calculus, 14 marks from vectors and three dimensional geometry, 5 marks from linear programming, and 8 marks from probability. Also, 20% of the paper will be require memory recall, 35% will be understanding based, 25% application based, and 20% on analysis, evaluation, creation.

Students will get marks out of 80 on the basis of their performance in exam. And marks out of 20 on the basis of internal assessment, of which 10 makrs will be as per their performance in periodic tests, best 2 out of 3, and 10 marks on mathematics activities.

Mathematics subject is common for science, as well as commerce students. For science students, PCBM as well as PCM, mathematics is usually the last major exam. Last year the CBSE class 12 mathematics exam was held on March 18. This year, the board will release the CBSE class 12 date sheet 2020 soon. It has already been revealed, officially, that the board will hold all class 10 and 12 exams from February 15, 2020 to March 31, 2020.
