CBSE Announces JEE Main 2018 Result at cbseresults.nic.in; Cutoff Dips to 74

This year around 12 lakhs of candidates appeared for the JEE Main 2018 examination. The wait of these candidates is over now. The CBSE has announced the result for JEE Main 2018 for both Paper 1 and Paper 2 on April 30, 2018. The candidates can check their result at cbseresults.nic.in. The most surprising part about the result this year is that the cutoff has decreased a lot.

The candidates can check their result online at cbseresults.nic.in. Click on the link for JEE Main 2018 Result and then enter login details like your Roll Number and Date of Birth. Submit the login details and the result will appear on the screen. It is advised to candidates to download and take a print out their result. First, the result is declared at the Board’s official website, and then it is announced at JEE Main official website.

The candidates who qualify the JEE Main 2018 by obtaining minimum qualifying marks will be considered for appearing in JEE Advanced 2018 examination. The JEE Advanced exam is conducted for admission to IITs.

The qualifying cutoff of JEE Main 2018 for JEE Advanced is 74, 45, 29, 24, -35 for CRL, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD category. This is very less in comparison to last year because it was 81, 49, 32, and 27 for the same categories.

As per the newspaper reports, nearly 12,00,000 students applied for the exam. Out of these could be 224,000 will be eligible for the next phase of JEE Advanced 2018. However, in all 231024 candidates have qualified. Out of the total, the successful candidates under CRL category are 111275. Whereas, under OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and PwD category 65313, 34425, 17256, and 2755, candidates have qualified respectively. 

Two types of ranks will be available for the candidate, one is the All India Rank (AIR) and other is the All India category rank. However, only the All India Rank is used for admissions through Central Seat Allocation Board to NITs/IIITs/CFTIs/SFIs/Others, while other ranks are for information purposes.

Last year there were about 36208 seats under common counselling All India 15% quota admissions. However, candidates should check the individual state seat allocation authority websites, institutes offering BTech Admission through JEE Main 2018 website to get precise seat details of state and institute. As per statistics, there are 15,53,809 undergraduate engineering seats in India in 3,289 colleges, keep in mind that there are other engineering entrance exam as well.
