IIM Calcutta has released the CAT Result 2018 on January 05, 2019 at 10:10 AM. Candidates can check the exam result at iimcat.ac.in using the registration number and password in the students’ Login. The result is available in the pdf format containing the candidates’ important registration details and the percentile score. The result for the exam is valid until December 31, 2019.
The scorecard for CAT 2018 consist of the sectional and overall performance of a candidate. Candidates can also check the score and percentile in each section. For admission in the academic year 2019-21, some institutes consider only overall percentile and some both sectional & overall. Indian Institute of Management (IIM) follows the latter criterion to shortlist candidates for the next round.
As the CAT result is available, IIMs will start releasing the list of candidates shortlisted for selection process which generally includes Analytical Writing Test (AWT), and Personal Interview (PI). Looking at the trends, IIM Ahmedabad is the first to release the shortlist. Following that, other IIMs also start intimating students to start the admission process.
The notification for the shortlist will be available either on the official website or the candidates’ registered email address. Old IIMs release it on their website, where candidates have to enter their date of birth and CAT registration number to check the selection status. Also, keep checking the registered email is for any kind of communication regarding the selection process. Newer IIMs generally send the notification by email.
Importantly, candidates must not miss checking their the selection status if they have low percentile. Sometimes candidates get a call on the basis of their strong profile. So, keep a track on IIM websites to check the latest updates.
Also, after IIMs, candidates can also apply for Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) MBA, the cut-off for them is lower than IIMs. The application form will start releasing a day after CAT result announcement. IIT Bombay is releasing the admission form on January 07, 2019. The forms for the IITs offering management programme will be available latest by the last week of January 2019.
Also, candidates who have filled the forms for Delhi University Admission must check their status as well. The last date to apply for many CAT accepting b-school is already over. There are many institutes who have started the admission process. For example, SPJIMR has already released shortlist for interview round.
In case candidates have to get low percentile from their expectations. Then, they must plan their admission to b-school after proper planning. First, candidates must look for the colleges that are under their cut-off bracket. Appear for the interview round and give best to get the admission. Then after this consider the Return on Investment (ROI) factor.
After CAT, there are many other options, which are available to candidates like SRCC GBO 2019, MBA CET 2019, MAT 2019. Explore options that are available to get admission to the academic year 2019-21. After this consider for dropping out. This idea must be taken with proper precaution.
