Until official CAT 2018 Answer Key is available, candidates must stay away from unofficial and unauthentic sources. Test takers are also advised not to share actual content for CAT 2018 via any mode. Once the key is available, candidates can download it to predict the percentile or shortlist the B-schools according to the performance.
As stated in the official notification, CAT 2018 result will release in the second week of January 2019. It will contain the scaled score and percentile of a candidate. IIM uses the process of Normalization in order to calculate the scaled score. This process is the same as followed in other national exams like GATE. In simple terms, the actual raw score of candidates is normalized after considering the factors like location, difficulty level, marks allocation etc. Once it is done, normalization is further done in each section and a final scaled score is printed on the result.
On the day of CAT result, IIM will start publishing the list of shortlisted candidates on their official website. The admission process of most of the IIMs is already present for admission 2019-21. The process followed by each IIM may vary depending upon the factors considered by them for the selection of a candidate.
Also, the Non-IIM institutes accepting CAT score will release the cut-off to start the admission process. Candidates who have not yet applied for other major national level exams can apply before the last date of application.
