Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal is all set to begin the Calcutta University UG Admission 2021 registration process from tomorrow, August 02, 2021. The registration process shall take place through the online mode on the official website caluniv.ac.in. Interested students can complete all the online application formalities on or before August 20, 2021. During the application process, they must specify the Under Graduates that they are applying for. Based on their preferences and Class 12 marks, the department shall publish merit lists on the official portal.
The state higher education department recently issued a public notification, announcing the official admission scheduled for UG and PG courses at the Calcutta University. Accordingly, the UG 2021 application process shall take place from August 02 to 20, 2021. Thereafter, the department will release merit lists for various UG courses latest by August 31, 2021.
After the publication of merit lists, students must confirm their seats and pay the admission fee by September 30, 2021. Students have a time period of 30 days to make a call. Once all the admission formalities are completed, the new academic session/first semester will begin from October 01, 2021.
This year, the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) announced the Class 12 board exam results on July 22, 2021. However, results were not curated based on the students’ performance in offline written exams. Instead, performance in Class 10, 11 and 12 (internal assessments) were taken into consideration.
WBCHSE had no choice but to cancel the Class 12 board exams due to the surge in coronavirus cases. A unanimous decision was taken to cancel both Class 10 and 12 board exams, similar to other state and central education boards. Thereafter, the state board had to come up with an alternate methodology to evaluate students in a fair and justified manner.
Based on the Class 12 board exam results, students will be granted admission to various UG courses at the Calcutta University. Therefore, the online admission process will solely be done based on merit. Moreover, students will not be called to any college for counselling or document verification.
According to the instructions issued by the higher education department, students will not be charged for scanning/uploading any documents. Even the online application form and admission prospectus will be made available to them, free of charge. However, certain amount will be charged to apply for the admission process. This fee must be paid only through the online mode and not through any offline sources.
University of Calcutta offers a number of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in different fields. These include agriculture, arts, education, journalism, library science, engineering, and technology, etc. This year, the admission process is all set to begin from tomorrow, on the official website caluniv.ac.in.
