Defense Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is offering the research fellowships. This is an opportunity for the bright and meritorious candidates to get a research experience, while getting paid for their efforts, simultaneously. Recently, Integrated Test Range (ITR) a laboratory under DRDO has announced the openings of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) online for the eligible Indian nationals.
The details of the research fellowship are released under the advertisement No. ITR/HRD/8014/JRF/2019/01 on the website of DRDO. The online registration for the suitable candidates will start from November 25, 2019, from 10:00 AM onwards and will continue till December 15, 2019, upto 5:00 PM.
To avail the fellowship award candidates first have to register themselves online through the website- rac.gov.in as and when the link gets activated. Only those candidates who will register and fill the application form will be called for an walk-in interview on January 4, 2020, at ITR, DRDO, Chandipur, Balasore – 756025. The reporting time of an interview is 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM, candidates have to ensure that they reach the venue on time.
Before applying candidates have to check and ensure that they meet the eligibility criteria set by the organisation. Detailed eligibility criteria pertaining to education and age is given here. Candidates applying for JRF must have passed BE or BTech with first division with the valid GATE score or must be ME or M.Tech passed out in first division, both at the graduate and postgraduate level. As far as the age is concerned one must not exceed 28 years of age as on January 4, 2020. Additionally, SC and ST candidates get the age relaxation upto 05 years and OBC candidates get the age relaxation of 03 years.
Candidates are responsible for filling-up the correct details in the application form. Images should be scanned and uploaded along with the other documents. It is important to fill the details properly because, candidates have to produce the self-attested copies as well as the original documents at the time of interview for verification purpose.
At the time of interview candidates have to carry the print out of the filled-in application form along with a valid government ID card, to be shown at the entrance. It is also critical to note that candidates working with any government organisation, public sector undertakings or autonomous bodies have to generate original “No Objection Certificate” from their respective department at the time of interview.
All the eligible candidates will compete against the total of 2 vacancies segregated respectively as one for the JRF in the discipline of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) or Information Technology (IT) and another in the discipline of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) or Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering (ETC) or Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering (E&l) or Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering (A, E & I). According to the information from the officials, these vacancies are provisional and are expected to increase or decrease as per the requirement.
The selected candidates wil be awarded with the fellowship for the period of 2 years getting monthly emoluments of Rs. 31,000. per month. Additionally they will also receive the house rent allowance and medical facilities, as per the rule. The period of the fellowship is extendable as per the rules.
Integrated Test Range (ITR) is a premier laboratory of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). Selection for the research fellow are carried out by the directors of the laboratories in the form of an interview. In the interview, a candidate is assessed on their aptitude for research work, clarity of concepts, analytical reasoning, technical knowledge and other factors. Additionally, preference is given to those candidates who have cleared NET, UGC, or GATE written test.
