Yesterday i.e. on March 14, 2019, the students of PSEB Class 8 witnessed a blunder. The students were shocked. The reason for this was they got the wrong question paper. Actually, the Punjab School Education Board had scheduled the exam of Social Science on Thursday. However, due to some mistakes, the students got the question paper of Punjabi. The exam of Punjabi is scheduled on March 19, 2019. But the students got the question paper 5 days ago.
As per the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), the goof-up happened at the end of the private firm which prints the question papers. SCERT is responsible to conduct the exams of class 8. They made the mistake in packing the question papers. The firm packed the question paper of Punjabi in spite of Social Science.
The mistake happened in 12 districts. As per the reports, the districts are Barnala, Faridkot, Fatehgarh Sahib, Ludhiana, Mansa, Pathankot, Patiala, Rupnagar, Sangrur, Tarn Taran, SBS Nagar (Nawanshahr) and Mohali. On the centres, the schools arranged the photocopies of social studies question paper. However, there was a 1-hour delay in the commencement of the exams. The timing was 1:00 pm but the exam started at 2:00 pm. After that, the students were given 1-hour extra time as compensate.
The Director of SCERT, Inderjit Singh stated that there was a mistake while packing the question papers. The printing firm packed the wrong question paper which caused the issues. He also said that they have blacklisted the firm and will not do business with them again. They will also be penalized for the mistake. He further added that there was no mistake of the staff posted at examination centres.
For class 10 and 12, the PSEB board has also released the date sheet. The Punjab Board date Sheet 2019 is the same for the regular as well as for the open school candidates. For class 10, the exams will begin from March 15, 2019, and it will be finished on April 02, 2019. The board is conducting the exams for class 12 from March 01 to 29, 2019. Within 29 days, the exams will over. Students will be able to appear for the exams from 10:00 am to 1:15 pm. They will be provided an extra 15 minutes to write information on the answer sheet and to read the question paper carefully.
