The IIM Calcutta is the exam conducting body for CAT 2018. All the decision to conduct the exam smoothly will be taken by it only. IIM Calcutta has recently released the notification regarding Registration for Non-IIM’s who are interested in accepting the CAT score for the academic session 2019-20.
Candidates who are aspiring to take Common Aptitude Test this year can expect that number of colleges who will accept the CAT 2018 scores will rise. This will increase the prospects of admission for candidates who are applying in MBA colleges through CAT. As in IIM’s seats are very less, if the number of colleges increases then it will add an advantage to students side only.
Seeing the popularity of this exam, the number of candidates applying for it are increasing day-by-day. There were over 2.31 Lakh registrations for the exam last year. Which leaves no doubt that giving CAT only multiples the chances of aspirants to select a college through this entrance test marks. Moreover, the participating colleges can apply until July 25, 2018. Once the registration is done, these colleges can accept the application form from students not later than December 14, 2018.
Last year, there were total 113 colleges registered for CAT 2017. This number can cross atleast 125 colleges this year. Indian Insitute of Information Technology(IIT), Indian Institute of Management Technology(IMT), Indian Insitute of Management Studies(IMS), S.P. Jain Institute of Management & Research are some of the top B-schools accepting the CAT scores.
This seems that the IIM tags are not important, you can still make into top colleges of India by making good percentile in CAT. At last, it will be your knowledge and experience matter during the placement round. You must choose the college wisely after checking its placement records, academic structure, fee structure, Alumni, faculty, and location. Apart from CAT, there are other exams like NMAT, XAT, SNAP etc, which do not accept CAT scores but have their own entrance exams. you can apply for these exams also to get into top 20 MBA colleges of India.
The Registration for CAT 2018 will start soon in the month of July-August 2018. Candidates must check the eligibility criteria before filling the registration form. The exam will take place on November 25, 2018. The exam will be a three-hour paper consisting of Reading Comprehension & Verbal ability, Logical Reasoning & Verbal Ability, Quantitative Ability.
With the change in exam conducting body, we can also expect some changes in CAT 2018. One thing we can say that IIM Calcutta will not lower its standard in terms of the difficulty level of the exam. So, in CAT 2018, we can expect difficulty level bit higher this year. IIM Calcutta already brought a change by announcing the exam date way earlier. Maybe this is to allow students to start preparing for the national level test at their best. Let’s see, what changes can actually be seen, whether in the number of colleges or in the exam pattern of CAT.
