Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has released the NIRF Rankings 2021 for the top medical colleges in India via an e-seminar. The e-list of the rankings has also been declared on the official website, nrfindia.org. As per the latest rankings, the All India Institute Of Medical Sciences, New Delhi has secured the top position this year as well. Whereas, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh ranked at the second spot, CMC, Bengaluru at the third spot, NIMHNS, Delhi at 4th and SGPIMS, Lucknow at 5th rank respectively. With this, list it is quite evident that, even in 2021, AIIMS Delhi is the best college to pursue medicine with an overall score of 92.07. No changes have been seen in the top 5 ranks in 2021 as compared to 2020. However, Banaras Hindu University earlier ranked at 6th position has been down by 1 rank and Amrita Vidya Vishwapeetham has managed to clinch 6th rank with a score of 69.25. A similar shuffle is been observed in the 9th and 10th positions, whereas King George`s Medical University which was in 10th position last year has got 1 level up and Kasturba Medical college is ranked at 10th position with a score of 63.60.
NIRF has been a premier institute that provides rankings to colleges on a list of pre-defined parameters. These rankings also enable the candidates to judge which college is best suited for them if they are willing to pursue medicine as a career. The basic parameters that are used by the authorities to rank colleges are Research and Professional Practice, Teaching, Learning and Resources, Outreach and Inclusivity and Peer Perception and Graduation outcome.
