IIT JAM 2022: Before Registration Starts on August 30, Check Eligibility Criteria, Data Requirement

The candidates willing to apply for the IIT JAM 2022 must have completed their Bachelor’s degree in the concerned subject from a government-recognized college.

IIT JAM 2022 Before Registration Starts on August 30

The registration of the IIT JAM(Joint Admission Test) 2022 is expected to commence from August 30, 2021, on the dedicated official website i.e. jam.iitr.ac.in. According to the official website, the last date to fill the application form will be October 11, 2021. The admit card of the IIT JAM 2022 will be released on January 04, 2022, and the examination will be conducted on February 13, 2022. The IIT JAM 2022 final result is expected to be announced on March 22, 2022. The organizing institute for the IIT JAM 2022 is IIT Roorkee.

The candidates who successfully clear the IIT JAM 2022 will get the opportunity to get admission in M.Sc. (Two-year) Programme, Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D., M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree, and other Post-Bachelors Degree Programme. The JAM 2022 is scheduled to be held on February 13, 2022, in two sessions. The papers on Biotechnology, Mathematical Statistics, and Physics will be conducted in the Forenoon. While papers of Chemistry, Economics, Geology, and Mathematics will be conducted in the afternoon. 

As per the official poster available on the website, the candidates need to have completed a Bachelor’s degree in any of the concerned subjects. Along with this, the aggregate marks for the candidates who belong to the General category are fixed at 55%. While for the candidates who belong to SC/ST category the aggregate marks for the Bachelor course is fixed at 50%. The proof of passing the qualifying degree has to be submitted by the candidates by September 30, 2022.

The data required to fill the IIT JAM application form is Personal information, Communication Address, Bachelor degree details, Name of the College name along with complete address, preferred JAM paper, preferred JAM examination cities, Scanned Candidate’s photograph, Scanned Candidate’s signature,  Scanned copy of the Category and PwD certificate, and details of the valid Id proof of the candidate.

The JAM 2022 entrance test will be conducted as a Computer-based test. There are seven test papers that the candidates can opt for i.e. Biotechnology (BT), Chemistry (CY), Economics (EN), Geology (GG), Mathematics (MA), Mathematical Statistics (MS), and Physics (PH). The candidate can choose to appear for either one test paper or two test papers. For appearing in two papers, the candidates need to pay an additional fee. 

The entrance test will have three types of questions i.e. Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), Multiple Select Questions (MSQ), and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions. The total number of questions asked in the exam will be 60 for 100 marks and the duration of the IIT JAM will be 3 hours. 

Once the exam is over, the candidates need to fill the application form from April 11, 2022 to April 25, 2022. The processing fee for the IIT JAM admission form is Rs 600.

The candidate has to enter his personal details along with his preferred college, course name. The concerned authorities will consider the application form of all the candidates and then release the first admission list. Post this, the successful candidates will be required to pay a booking fee which is Rs 10,000 for General candidates and Rs 5000 for SC/ST candidates.
