GD Goenka University has announced the launch of a comprehensive range of Clinical Psychology programmes in collaboration with Fortis Healthcare, aiming to bridge the growing gap in mental health services across India. The newly introduced offerings under the School of Liberal Arts include a two-year full-time MA in Clinical Psychology (conditionally approved by the Rehabilitation Council of India), along with the Professional Diploma in Clinical Psychology (PDCP) and BSc (Hons) in Clinical Psychology, both pending RCI approval.
These programmes are designed to blend rigorous academic study with practical clinical training and are aligned with Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) guidelines. The collaboration addresses the critical shortage of mental health professionals in India — currently estimated at just 0.7 professionals per 100,000 people according to the Indian Journal of Psychiatry.
Fortis Healthcare, a leading tertiary care provider, will serve as the official clinical training partner. Students will gain hands-on experience in Fortis hospitals, engaging in psychological assessments, therapeutic interventions, and multidisciplinary mental healthcare.
Nipun Goenka, Managing Director of GD Goenka Group, stated, “By integrating academic depth with real-world clinical experience, we aim to develop professionals who are ethical, empathetic, and globally competent in mental health care.”
Dr. Anjali Midha, Dean of the School of Liberal Arts, highlighted the urgency of the initiative: “Our collaboration with Fortis ensures that students are clinically prepared to respond to India’s growing psychological needs. These programmes are crafted to deliver a meaningful societal impact.”
