CBSE Class 10, 12 Practicals: November 9 Start Is Only for Winter-Bound Schools; Others From January 1, Date Sheet Awaited

AglaSem News: School Education

The 9 November start for CBSE practical exams applies only to winter-bound schools. A circular dated 5 November tells those schools to hold Class 10 and 12 practicals, projects and internal assessment from 9 November to 19 December 2026. For other schools, CBSE says the 2026-27 practicals are scheduled from 1 January 2027, and a separate circular will follow.

Winter-bound schools go first because they are expected to stay closed in January. If your school runs a regular session, nothing changes for you on 9 November. If you are not sure which session your school follows, ask your school.

The theory date sheet is a separate matter, and it is still not out. When we checked cbse.gov.in late on 5 November, the board had not published it or given a date. Schools can correct student data until 7 November. Our earlier story explains why the date sheet is later than last year.

If you are in a winter-bound school

  • Your name must be in the school’s list of candidates. CBSE says a student not included in the online list cannot appear for these practicals.
  • Class 10 internal assessment happens only once, so do not miss your school’s schedule.
  • Marks cannot be changed after upload. They must be uploaded by the last date, with no extension. CBSE also says these marks must not be disclosed to students.
  • Who runs the exam differs by class. For Class 10, the school conducts the assessment and CBSE appoints no external examiner. For Class 12, the board appoints external examiners.

When CBSE publishes the theory schedule, the subject-wise dates will be on AglaSem Schools: CBSE Class 10 date sheet and CBSE Class 12 date sheet.
