From this year, Anna University will not conduct Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) for the academic year 2019-21. From now on, the university will organize its own examination for admission to MBA, MCA, ME, M.Tech, M.Arch, M.Plan courses. As per the latest updates on the official website, the university will conduct Anna University Common Entrance Test (AUCET) 2019 for the postgraduate admission.
The university will no longer conduct TANCET 2019, Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission (TNEA), and Tamil Nadu Common Admissions (TANCA). Previously, Tamil Nadu Directorate of Technical Education took the responsibility to conduct TANCA. With the authority of state examination shifted to DoTE, it is expected TANCET will also be organized by it.
TANCET and AUCET are two different examinations. TANCET is a state level examination and until last year, Anna University used to conduct the exam. Via this exam, candidates could take admission to the state colleges of Tamil Nadu. Whereas AUCET is a university level examination. Candidates who will appear for this exam will able to take admission at the department and regional colleges of Anna University.
The partial information about AUCET 2019 has been available at annauniv.edu. However, until now there are no updates regarding TANCET 2019 on either DoTe or Anna University website. It is still unclear who will be the exam conducting body of TANCET. Previously, any information regarding it used to update on the university website at annauniv.edu.
The introduction of the new test has created confusion for the applicants. First, students will now have to appear for two examinations, if they want to apply for Anna University as well as other state colleges. Second, there is no information about TANCET 2019. As candidates eagerly waiting for an application form and exam date to release.
Candidates who are interested in Anna University courses will able to apply online from May 06, 2019. The last date to fill the application form is May 25, 2019. The exam date for MCA and MBA is June 22, 2019. Whereas, the exam date for M.E. / M.Tech. / M.Arch. / M.Plan is June 23, 2019. The exact details about the admissions process, syllabus, exam pattern, the information brochure will be released 06 on May.
As per the advertisement, the application fee for AUCET 2019 is Rs 800/- for general candidates and Rs 400/- for SC / SCA / ST. In case the candidates have to apply for more than one programme, then they have to pay the same amount for each course additionally. The fee payment gateway will open in online mode only.
The admission via AUCET is open at Anna University Departments at CEG, ACT, SAP, MIT Campus. Regional campuses at Tirunelveli, Madurai, Coimbatore and University College of Engineering at BIT Campus Tiruchirappalli and Villupuram.
