2.41 lakh candidates Appearing for CAT 2018 on 25 Nov

This year, CAT 2018 Exam will conduct on November 25, 2018. According to the media release by IIM Calcutta, 2.41 Lakh candidates have applied for CAT 2018 entrance exam. Thus it is expected that at least 2 Lakhs candidates will appear for the exam this year. According to the previous last three-year trends average of 83% of total registered candidates actually takes the exam. The test will take place at 374 test centre across 147cities in India.

The exam will be held in two sessions in a single day. Candidates must appear in one session according to time slot mentioned on the admit card. The first slot will conduct from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon for which the reporting time is 7:30 AM. Whereas for the second slot the reporting time is 01:00 PM and it will conduct between 2:30 PM – 5:30 PM.

On the exam day, it is important that students have the CAT 2018 Admit Card (with photograph affixed) and Identity Proof in original. In addition to that carry scribe affidavit, authorization form, medical certificate etc if required. Candidates must produce these documents during the verification round.

In the recent exam rules released by IIM Calcutta, a few important things to note are that this year candidates are not allowed to wear footwear and jackets with pockets. Test takers can wear socks, plain pullovers, sweaters, cardigans with no pockets. Importantly, do not wear any jewelry, watch, and jackets having pockets. Only after proper frisking by metal detectors and verification, candidates will get the entry in the exam hall.

This year candidates will get only 1 writing pad for the entire exam. During the exam, candidates will get test pad only once. Thus, it is advisable that candidates use the sheets judiciously and do not waste them. Before leaving the examination hall, students have to submit the admit card, writing pad, and pens to the invigilator. As mentioned in the test day instructions, candidates must not tear or carry the writing pad/pages with self. It may seriously impact the candidature of the test taker.

Since only a few days have been left for the exam, candidates must not overburden themselves with self-doubt. In the last few days, students can take 1-2 mocks. Also, tricky questions, common mistakes in grammar can be revised. On the exam day, try to maintain a balance between accuracy and speed. Importantly, do not set the target in advance and make the strategy according to the test difficulty level. Just before the exam, eat healthy food, stay calm and keep the mind fresh. The last months’ hard work will definitely show colors in future.

From the team Aglasem, All the best for CAT 2018.
