Just a day after IIM Lucknow revealed CAT 2017 dates, XLRI has gone ahead to unveil XAT 2018 exam date. Xavier Aptitude Test will be held on January 7, 2018. Every year the exam is held on the first Sunday of January and the same is being done this year as well. While XAT is essentially an entrance exam for admission to XLRI, several other colleges accept its test scores for management program admissions, making it a critical entrance exam for graduates.
The entrance exam is meant for admitting candidates to the postgraduate programs in management courses of business-schools all over India. XLRI (Xavier Labor Relations Institute) was set up in 1949. It initially started offering courses for management and trade and later on also developed an Industrial Welfare Program in 1953. It is India’s oldest business management school. The score of XAT is accepted in more than 150 colleges in India, which is why it has been the first choice of the candidates who seek future in management universities. This year the exam date of XAT has been notified on July 30, 2017, on XLRI website, on its newsroom page.
So until now major MBA entrance exams that have notified details include IIFT, NMAT by GMAC, IBSAT, CAT, and XAT. Aspirants will get ample time to prepare for XAT as it will be the last entrance exam for 2018-19 admission session. In fact even after appearing in IIM CAT there will be more than a month’s time to brush up concepts for XAT exam.
Last year the registration for XAT exam started on August 17, and is therefore expected to begin on a similar date this time as well. Usually registrations go on until as late as December. A few weeks before exam, XLRI will issue admit cards for exam on website. Candidates can appear for XAT exam on assigned test centres with issued hall tickets.
Result will be announced by end of January after which admission process will begin in institutes accepting XAT scores. However it must be noted that application process for such institutes will begin much earlier. That is to say, anyone who wishes to get admission in a certain college must enquire about its admission process and apply soon, and not wait for XAT result first. Usually MBA aspirants miss out on application deadlines of important colleges as they keep waiting for CAT or XAT results.
The MBA admission process consists of entrance tests, followed by release of shortlist of candidates by institutes. Those who get shortlisted need to appear for written exams, group discussion, and personal interviews. There is indeed tough competition for top B Schools.
With the date of XAT 2018 exam out, it rings the bell to start preparation round up. So whatever you are up to now, whether you are a student or working professional, draw up your study plans and get ready to ace XAT! Feel free to drop comments below about XAT entrance exam.
