Result of CAT 2017 is eagerly awaited. Anxiety is palpable. Any of the 1.9 lakh+ students can tell you that the wait for results seems to be tougher than the exam now.
Common Admission Test is a national level entrance exam. IIMs, which are among most prestigious B-schools in India, conduct it on a rotational basis. IIMs accept only CAT scores for admission. Several other colleges in India also accepts its scores. This makes its result extremely significant for MBA / PGDM aspirants.
IIM Lucknow held CAT exam on November 26, 2017 in two shifts. Both shifts were “moderate to difficult” in nature. As per exam analysis, DILR section was toughest. Candidates who appeared for exam are now fretful about CAT 2017 results, now that it has been longer than a month and a week since exam. It is starting hamper their preparations for remaining entrance exams.
Blame should however not be put upon exam organizers as they had clearly mentioned in official statements – advertisement/brochure – that result will come in “second week of January 2018”. Second week of January 2018 starts on January 7, 2018, and ends on January 13, 2018. So broadly speaking, result may come on any of these dates. However, a recent “official statement” in unofficial reports say that result will come early in second week of January 2018. Hype around result declaration was nevertheless big ever since first of January. Candidates were clearly expecting an early announcement of results looking at past year’s exam timeline.
You can see news with headlines claiming result is coming today and so on. For sake of sanity and avoiding unnecessary panic, avoid such news. IIM Lucknow is sole decision maker for date of declaration of CAT Result 2017. All intimation from them comes on website iimcat.ac.in. They also send messages and mails about result announcement personally to each test taker, on their registered email ID and phone number. So any official news about result will reach you within seconds of announcement through official channel itself.
Instead, utilize this time for better things such as preparing for other entrance exams. XAT and CMAT are two very important exams now. Also MAT Feb 2018 is there. Also, you can prepare for group discussions and personal interviews.
