West Bengal Madhyamik 2027 May Move to March 2-16 Over Census Duty; Board Awaits State Approval

AglaSem News: School Education

The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) has proposed moving the Madhyamik 2027 (Class 10) exams from February to 2–16 March 2027, because teachers are expected to be on Census duty in February. The state government has not approved the change yet, so the notified dates of 15–25 February still stand for now.

Board president Laltu Das wrote to the state’s education department seeking permission, PTI reported, saying teachers “are expected to be assigned Census-related responsibilities in February” and would not be available for exam duty. As of 3 November, he said the proposed dates were still awaiting the School Education Department’s approval.

Notified and proposed dates

Second Language16 February3 March
History18 February5 March
Geography19 February8 March

Physical Science23 February13 March

What students should do

  • Keep preparing for February. Until the board issues a revised routine, the February dates are the ones that count.
  • Treat any “final routine” PDF with caution. The March dates above come from news reports of the proposal. We could not open the WBBSE website when we checked, and found no official notice.
  • If it is approved, the exams would start about two weeks later and end about three weeks later, with similar gaps between papers.

Follow notices at wbbse.wb.gov.in. The routine and past updates are on the West Bengal Board time table page on AglaSem Schools.
