The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Examination (WBCHSE) has canceled Class 11th final exams in view of the current COVID-19 pandemic situation. Meanwhile, the exam timings for Higher Secondary (HS) or Class 12 final have been changed. The class 12th exams will be held as per the schedule, however, the exam will now start on 12-3:15 pm instead of 10 am to 1:15 pm, confirmed the board.
Council released a statement in which it said, “Higher Secondary Examination will be conducted as per schedule published earlier. For Higher Secondary Examination 2021 the HS examinees will appear for the examination at their own institution (Home Venue) and please note that the examination timings will be 12 noon to 3.15 pm in the place of 10 am to 1.15 pm”.

Students who are confused what does Home Venue mean should note that it means that the upcoming Class 12 West bengal board exams will be conducted from the students’ respective schools, not a board-appointed exam centre. The decision to conduct the exams from the home centre of students is taken this year due to the sudden rise of Covid-19 cases across West Bengal. As per the usual norms, students appear at other schools to give their board examinations each year.
The Class 12 board exams in the state are scheduled to be conducted from June 15 to 30, 2021. The exams will be held during the second half of the day on the scheduled dates.
The schools in West Bengal have been shut down in view of the sudden rise in the Covid-19 cases across the state. The state government issued to shut down the schools on April 19. Apart from this, summer vacations have been declared in schools from May 7 this year. Moreover, classes will be conducted online for all the students till the summer vacations commence next week.
The board exam preparation for students of Classes 10th and 12th is being done online for the time being and no date for the reopening of schools has been issued yet by the state government.
