West Bengal Police Recruitment Board announced the result of the main exam today, on August 9, 2019, for the post of Police Constables recruitment 2018-2019. Candidates who have appeared in the final examination can now check the result by visiting the official website of the department wbpolice.gov.in. The shortlisted candidates are invited to appear for interviews which are scheduled to commence from August 26, 2019 tentatively under different range recruitment boards.
To check the result, candidates need to go to the website – wbpolice.gov.in and click recruitment button in menu. Then on recruitment page, click get details link against recruitment to the post of constables in West Bengal Police – 2018 section. Here, both notice as well as login page to check result are listed. Clicking on the notice opens the result notice, and result leads to login page for result. Candidates have to select state or district, enter application serial number, and date of birth.
Now, WBP will issue call letters for the interview through the website wbpolice.gov.in from August 14, 2019. The board will also send SMS alert intimating the date and venue of interview to the candidate’s registered mobile number. No paper call letters for the Interview will be issued or sent via post to the applicants. They shall have to produce the print out of their e-call letters before the testimonial checking desk on the day of their Interview round. On the day of the Interview, candidates are requested to bring identical photographs along with ID proof and other documents mentioned in call letter. It is advised to follow the e-call letter carefully and appear for the same.
Recruitment of police constables in West Bengal police force for 5702 vacancies was advertised in April last year. The pay scale being offered is Rs 5400 – 25200 (PB 2) + Grade Pay Rs 2600. Candidates with Madhyamik (class 10th) qualification and between 18 to 27 years of age were invited to apply. A preliminary test of 100 marks was held on September 23 last year. Then physical measurement test, physical standards test was held from February 25 to April 5, 2019. Thereafter final exam was held on June 30, 2019.
Whereas final exam was of 85 marks, interview will be of 15 marks. The interview will be such as to test a candidate’s general awareness and suitability for public service. Merit list for final selection shall be compiled on basis of total marks in final exam and interview.
The West Bengal Police was formed under the provisions of the Police Act 1861 during the British colonial rule. The organization is headed by an officer designated as the Director of general of police. It has a separate police force in Kolkata. WP police has jurisdiction with 18 revenue district comprising one of the two general police districts of WB under the Police Act 1861. Its main aim is help establish the rule of law through detection and prevention of crime of all the sections of society. With regards to recruitment, WBP says that the selection process by the West Bengal Police Recruitment Board is transparent and purely based on merit. Therefore, the candidates are advised not to fall prey for any racketeers / touts who may misguide them for the job on illegal consideration.
