The WBJEE 2022 application process, previously scheduled to commence on December 21, 2021, has now been deferred. As indicated by the recent update, the online registration to apply for West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination 2022 will now begin on December 24, 2021, at wbjeeb.nic.in. Due to this shift in schedule, the application form correction facility which was previously scheduled to be held from January 8 to 20, 2022 is now rescheduled to  January 11 to 13, 2022, respectively. Once the application portal gets activated, interested candidates can start registering themselves by visiting the official website of WBJEE, on or before January 10, 2022. WBJEE 2022 exam is scheduled to be held on April 23, 2022, at various affiliated centers across West Bengal.

How to apply

Interested candidates can follow the below-given steps to apply for the WBJEE 2022 entrance exam once the application window opens:

Step 1: Visit the official website of WBJEE at wbjeeb.nic.in

Step 2: Locate the registration link for WBJEE 2022 exam on their homepage and click on it.

Step 3: New applicants must register themselves and then login to start filling the form.

Step 4: Applicants must carefully select all the options while filling the form and opt for Domicile in order to be eligible for the exam.

Step 5: Once logged, candidates must fill in all the details carefully and keep the documents ready to upload.

Step 6: Once the form is filled, proceed with uploading the required documents along with a scanned copy of the applicant’s image and signature. Remember these documents will get printed on the admit card, so be careful and take care of the size and format while uploading.

Step 7: Pay the application fees and submit the form. Candidates belonging to the general category will have to pay Rs 500 while those belonging to SC, ST, and OBC categories will have to pay Rs 400.

Details regarding Domicile Requirements

It is important for all the candidates to go through the eligibility criteria once, before proceeding with the registration process. Candidates wishing to apply for WBJEE 2022 must be Indian nationals, and domicile of the state of West Bengal.

A domicile certificate is mandatory for candidates aiming for a seat in a government college. The requirement states that either the candidate or their parents must be a permanent resident of West Bengal for 10 consecutive years on a given address, and should hold a domicile certificate regarding the same.

Details regarding the Domicile Certificate

Candidates wishing to apply for the WBJEE 2022 exam without a domicile certificate will be allowed to do so for a limited number of seats. The Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme (TFWS) provided by various government colleges also requires a domicile certificate while applying.

The board has also listed the competent authorities who can grant the issuance of a domicile certificate. These include the offices of magistrate, police superintendent, commisionerate, secretary to the state of West Bengal and/or the Government of India. The board has further asked the details of the identity of the issuant officer along with the certificate.

Institute wise Domicile certificate requirements vary for general and reserved categories. Candidates who fall under the general category need to submit a domicile certificate only if they wish to seek admission to a government college. State-Aided Universities and self-financing institutions offering Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Pharmacy courses don’t ask for domicile certificates from general category students. However, this is not the case for reserved categories. Domicile certificate is mandatory for such candidates in all Government and Private Colleges. Candidates who applied for domicile seats but are not able to submit the certificates on time during authentication will be disqualified.

Age Restrictions

Other eligibility criteria include an age limit where the candidates should be minimum of 17 years old as of December 31, 2021, or should have been born on or before December 31, 2004. No upper age limit is set for WBJEE except for the candidates wishing to apply for Marine Engineering, where the upper age limit is of 25 years as of December 31, 2021. General category candidates must have an aggregate of 45% whereas reserved category candidates must have an aggregate of 40% marks in the three compulsory subjects in the 10+2th (or equivalent) examination.
