VIT University has its campuses at Vellore, Chennai, Bhopal, AP. It is conducting VITEEE 2018 for admission to B.Tech programs in all campuses. Today the university announced exam dates of VIT Engineering Entrance Exam on its official website.
VITEEE 2018 will be held from 4th to 15th April 2018 with three sessions on each day. Session I will be from 9 AM to 11.30 AM; Session II will be from 12.30 PM to 3 PM; thereafter Session III will be from 4 PM to 6.30 PM. Also, details of application form submission are available such as date, fees for it and how to apply. Engineering aspirants across the country are hereby informed of official details of VITEEE 2018.
The application form will be available from 9th November 2017. As of now the last date to apply is not yet available. However, it is likely to be somewhere in the month of March. A huge number of aspirants apply for the university’s engineering entrance exam each year. VIT University, in fact, is in Limca Book of Records for getting 2,02,406 applications in the year 2015. In 2016 as well as 2017 also an equally large number of applications were received.
You may note that applications will be available online as well as offline. Therefore, you will first decide which mode to apply through and then apply. In the application form, opt for any one stream either PCME or PCBE. Here you may note that one who is eligible for PCME can go for any of the B.Tech degree programs. Whereas those eligible for PCBE will go for any of the three B.Tech Bio-stream degree programmes only. The university lays stress on the selection of question paper while filling application form of VITEEE 2018.
Application fees for VITEEE for 2018 admissions are slightly higher than last time. Whereas last year the fee amount was Rs 990 for OMR forms and Rs 970 for the online form, this time it is Rs 1200 for offline form and Rs 1150 for the online form.
You will upload a scanned copy of recent passport size photograph at vit.ac.in which is between 10 to 200 KB in size. Also, you will upload signature with same size specifications. A change in form is the compulsory submission of a scanned copy of Aadhar card.
You are eligible for VITEEE 2018 only if your date of birth falls on or after 1st July 1996. In qualifying examination, the minimum score required is 60% in physics, chemistry, mathematics/biology. For SC / ST and NE state candidates, the marks requirement is 50%.
An interesting note on official website says that the Eligibility and selection process considering the VITEEE 2018 will be subject to any changes that NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) may propose for Engineering Institutions to follow, in the academic year.
Along with the above information, an overview of the exam is also available already. First thing to note is that there will be 125 questions in the exam. Break up of questions is 40 questions each in sections on physics, chemistry, mathematics/biology, and 5 questions in English. All questions are multiple choice questions. There is no negative marking.
VITEEE is one of the popular engineering entrance exams that take place as computer-based tests. Moreover, there are multiple days and multiple sessions. Because of this, VIT University implements an equating methodology. Thus, what comes after the exam in form of result is a percentile rank. Ultimately it is the rank obtained in VITEEE 2018 only that forms the basis for admission to VIT University.
Here is also an overview of the timeline of this entrance exam. Application form submission starts on 9th November 2017. Editing of applications will then happen in February 2018. Those who apply will book their test slots and get hall tickets in the month of March 2018. VITEEE 2018 exam will be held from 4th to 15th April 2018. Finally, result will be out by the end of April 2018. This is followed by counselling and admission process.
