The Uttarakhand Government has decided to cancel the class 10th board exams and postpone the class 12th examinations. The UKBSE class 10, 12 exams 2021 were scheduled to commence from May 4, and continue till May 22, 2021. The State Education Minister Arvind Pandey informed the students on Twitter saying that “In view of rising Covid19 cases in the state, the state board has decided that it is in the best interest of the students for cancelling examinations for Class 10 while defer the exams for class 12”.
He further added that the board will conduct a review meeting on June 1 and will take any call on the postponed exams on the day of the meeting. Hence, the Uttarakhand board will announce the revised date for class 12th in June. As and when the new dates are announced, it can be checked by the students from the official website of the board which is ubse.uk.gov.in.

Since the class 10th examinations are cancelled for UK Board, the students will be promoted to the next standard that is, class 11, on the basis of the marks obtained in the internal assessment and pre-boards.
According to the newspaper reports, as many as 1.48 lakh students were registered to appear for Class 10th examinations and about 1.23 lakh candidates registered for Senior Secondary or class 12th exams 2021. Last year, around 1.47 lakh candidates appeared for the High School examination, and 1.19 lakh students appeared for class 12. Moreover, last year too, the exams were disrupted due to the rising cases of COVID-19 across the country.
Earlier, CBSE, CISCE, and many other state boards decided to cancel the class 10th exams and postpone class 12th exams till May and June. The second COVID wave has created havoc in the country where every day more than 10,000 cases are registered for the people affected with the virus. Other than annual examinations, various national level entrance examinations like NEET, JEE Mains, and others are also put on hold by the conducting bodies in the country.
