UPSC Prelims Result Announced; 14717 Candidates Qualify for IAS and IFS Main

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the result of Civil Services Aptitude Test 2017. The result was announced today, on July 27, 2017, around 7:15 pm. It has been released as a pdf file, in which the Roll Numbers of the qualified candidates are mentioned.

The Commission has released the Civil Services and Indian Foreign Services result separately. The candidates can check the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Result and UPSC Indian Forest Services (IFS) by clicking here.

In all, 13365 candidates have qualified for the Civil Services Main Exam and as far as the IFS is concerned, the number of qualifiers is 1352. Despite having a common preliminary examination, the Main examination for both IAS and IFS will be held on different dates, on October 28 and December 03, 2017, precisely.

The qualified candidates will now have to apply for the UPSC Mains 2017. The Application form for the Civil Services Main 2017 exam will be available from August 17 to 31, 2017. The registration window will open on upsc.gov.in and on the last day of form submitting will close at 6:00 pm.

On the other hand, the aspirants of IFS Main 2017 will be able to apply from September 07, 2017, on the official website of the Commission. The deadline to submit the IFS Main application form will end on September 20, 2017, at 6:00 pm. The candidates of both the examination must apply, else the call letter for the Main examination will not be issued to them.

The admit card of IAS and IFS will be issued online. The candidates will not receive at their residential address. The candidates will be able to download it by submitting the Registration Id or Roll Number. If the candidates will opt for the Registration ID medium, then they will be required to submit Registration Number and Date of Birth. Similarly, if the candidates opt for Roll Number medium then they will be required to submit the Roll Number and DoB, along with the captcha.

The selection of the candidates for the Main examination has been done on the basis of the cutoff. It is the minimum qualifying marks, on the basis of which the candidates are delimited for the further round. UPSC will announce the cutoff for the preliminary examination but after the announcement of the Mains examination.

Last year, the UPSC CAST cutoff for Preliminary examination was 116 for General Category, 110.66 for OBC, 99.34 for SC and 96 for ST category. The same in the year 2015 was 107.34, 106, 94, 91 for the respective categories. Even this year, the figures will be somewhat the same.

Apart from this, the Commission declared those General category candidates qualified for the Main examination who score more than 787 in IAS Main examination. The previous year cutoff of the Main exam for the OBC, SC, and ST category was 745, 739, and 730, respectively.

Also, in 2016, the Mains cutoff for the IFS aspirants went as high as 736 for the General category candidates. However, the same for the candidate belonging OBC, SC, and ST category candidates was 682, 613, and 642.
