Union Public Service Commission held NDA NA (I) examination on 23rd April 2017. Result of written examination will be announced in July. NDA 2017 Result declaration was initially anticipated in June, considering that UPSC usually takes 2 months for exam result. However there has been a slight delay for some reason. Now that July has arrived, written examination result indicating roll numbers of candidates shortlisted for SSB interviews will be available.
UPSC holds National Defence Academy and Naval Academy examination two times in a year – June and September. On one hand, NDA (1) 2017 result is being published and on another, NDA (2) 2017 application form is going on. Those who have appeared for NDA (1) 2017 can check written examination result; then if they qualify they can download SSB call letter for interview and tests.
One can obtain a maximum of 300 marks in Mathematics, 600 in GAT. SSB interviews that take place for written exam qualifiers, is of 900 marks. During SSB test and interview there will be OIR tests (officer intelligence rating), PPDT (picture perception description test), interview, group tasks, psychology tests, conference. It is said that SSB interviews are tough to crack.
In NDA 1 2017 there are 335 vacancies in National Defence Academy. Out of which, 208 are in Army, 55 in Navy, and 72 in Air Force. Under 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme in Naval Academy there are 55 vacancies. For upcoming recruitment exam for which forms are ongoing second there are 20 more vacancies as compared to one for which exam is over.
In mathematics paper there were 120 questions. 300 maximum marks is divided equally among 120 questions. Thus for correct answer candidate gets 2.5 marks. However, if an answer is wrong then one-third of marks assigned to that question gets deducted. Likewise in GAT paper there are 150 questions of total 600 marks. This means that correct answer fetches 4 marks. Same negative marking is for general ability test paper as in mathematics. Multiple choice questions have one correct option correct; which can be seen in answer key of UPSC NDA exam.
As per reports, more than 3 lakh candidates register and appear for this exam. Around 6000 candidates will be called for Services Selection Board. Selected students must be aware of interview process so that they are mentally prepared for it. Leadership skills, and attitutde play an important role here. During face to face interviews or any interaction in it, think first and then speak. Getting selected through UPSC NDA is a matter of honor and pride for those who wish to serve in Army, Navy, Air Force or defence services. It is a direct gateway to get dream government job in defence services after class 12.
