A move that has been never taken before in the history of Indian Education has been witnessed. Centre approves a whopping amount of Rs 4,889 Crore to support Higher Education In India. The budget has been allotted to 1012 Institution in India that provides Higher Education. The Project Approval Board (PAB) of Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA), under the HRD Ministry, has approved this large amount of budget.
10 universities get a budget of 10 crores each to enhance their quality and excellence. Similarly, Rs 5 crore for each of the 17 colleges has been approved to improve their quality. Also budget under this grant is also to be used for 70 New model degree colleges (MDCs) that will be created in as many aspirational districts. In addition to that, 23 existing colleges in these districts will be upgraded to model degree college at Rs 4 crore each under RUSA.

The Ministry has approved a budget of Rs. 12 crore each for new model colleges in the state of Chhattisgarh in Bijapur, Narayanpur, Sukma, Kondagaon, Dantewada, Korba, and Mahasamund. Two new professional colleges at Palamau and Koderma at Rs 26 crore each have also been sanctioned. Similarly, Rs 5 crore for Govt. V.Y.T. PG Autonomous College Durg has been approved at Rs 5 crore each to improve their quality and excellence.
Also in Jharkhand, 13 New Model Degree Colleges has been sanctioned to Jharkhand at aspirational districts of Chatra, Dumka, Gumla, Giridh, Garhwa, Khunti, Lohardaga, Latehar, Pakur, Sahibganj, Ramgarh, West Singhbhum, Simdega at Rs. 12 crores each. Also, 2 new Professional Colleges at Palamu district and Koderma district has been approved at Rs. 26 crores each.
39 Colleges approved for infrastructure grants to the State of Gujarat for Rs. 2 crores each.

Infrastructure grants of Rs. 20 crores has been approved to Himachal Pradesh University and one new model degree college approved by the State in the district of Chamba at Rs. 12 crores.
5 Colleges approved for infrastructure grants to the State of Goa at Rs. 2 crores each.
Whereas Arunachal Pradesh has been approved proposals worth Rs 65 crore. This is to get 2 New Model Degree Colleges, 1 engineering colleges, and upgrade 1 existing college to Model Degree College.

A whopping total budget of Rs. 467 crores have been allotted to Higher Education institutions in Karnataka. Two new universities & 2 New Model Degree Colleges to be created. 5 existing colleges funded for quality enhancement & 113 colleges to be funded for infrastructure needs.
Big research boost to support research activities in the State of Tamil Nadu has been approved. 5 universities approved for research activities at Rs 50 crore each. The State has been approved a total budget of Rs 374 crore.
In the state of Odisha 6 new model degree colleges are sanctioned in 6 districts. A budget of Rs. 12 crores each has been allotted. A grant of Rs 100 crore has been approved for Utkal University.
