National Testing Agency is going to conduct the UGC NET December 2020 Cycle exam in the month of May 2021. In an official tweet, Education Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank posted snapshots of the latest notification for UGC NET December 2020. As per the notice, the examination is scheduled to be conducted on May 02 to 07, 10 to 12, 14 and 17, 2021. Information brochure for UGC NET December 2020 is scheduled to release today at the official website ugcnet.nta.ac.in. Interested candidates can check the brochure and apply online at the aforementioned website starting today i.e. February 02, 2021. The last date to apply online is March 02, 2021, while the application fee can be paid till March 03, 2021.

NTA conducts the UGC NET exam bi-annually in centres across the country. The examination is conducted for determining the eligibility of candidates for recruitment as Assistant Professor in Indian Universities and award of Junior Research Fellowship. As per the notice, the exam is scheduled to be held on the aforementioned dates as a Computer Based Test. Paper I carries 100 marks and consist of 50 MCQ type questions. On the other hand, Paper-II carries 200 marks and consist of 100 MCQ type questions.
The UGC NET December 2020 exam is to be conducted for two papers for a total timing of 3 hours. The examination is going to be conducted in two shifts on each exam day. The first shift exam commences 09.00 AM and ends at 12.00 PM. On the other hand, the second shift exam starts at 03.00 PM and ends at 06.00 PM. Candidates can expect details of allocated shift, date, reporting time, centre details to be intimated through the admit card which releases before the exam through the official website.
Based on the previous UGC NET exam, the minimum educational qualification required to apply for UGC NET exam is a Master’s degree with 55% or above marks. For Assistant Professor, there is no age limit. However, for Junior Research Fellowship, the maximum permissible age limit is 30 years. Interested candidates are advised to check the latest information brochure for the complete details of UGC NET December 2020 eligibility criteria before proceeding to apply online.
In the last UGC NET exam, candidates submitted applications online at the website ugcnet.nta.nic.in. An application fee of Rs 1000 is charged from General candidates while EWS and OBC candidates have to pay Rs 500 as application fee. SC/ST, PWD and Transgender candidates have to pay Rs 250.
It may be noted that last year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the UGC NET June 2020 exam was held from September to November 2020. As such, the examination for the December 2020 Cycle was delayed. Now with the official announcements, it is confirmed that UGC NET December 2020 exam is going to be conducted for all subjects in May 2021.
