Ministry of Education recently released the ARIIA Ranking for universities in the technical field. The Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) ranking has enlisted the top universities in the self-financed/private, government-recognised and government-aided categories. The ranking system is based on several parameters including mindset development, teaching & learning, infrastructure & facilities, innovations developed, startups established, collaboration & investment and IP & commercialisation.

#1 KALINGA INSTITUTE OF INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY
Formerly known as KIIT University, this university was established in the year 1992, in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The university primarily focuses on higher education and research in both Engineering and Science fields. For admission to UG and PG colleges, it conducts the KIIT Entrance Examination every year, on a nationwide level. UG courses include B.Tech, Biotechnology, B.Sc. Nursing, B.Pharm, BBA, LLB, etc. Similarly postgraduate courses offered include MBA, M.Tech., etc. However, admission to MBBS, BDS and other medical courses is done through NEET.
#2 CHITKARA UNIVERSITY
Located in Rajoura Punjab, this university is fairly recent and came to be established as a private university in 2010. The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs in specific fields. These include Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, Health Sciences, Nursing, Hospitality, Art & Design and Education. Chitkara University does not conduct any specific entrance test. So, admission to specific courses is through national-level entrance tests like JEE Main, NEET, CAT, etc.
LPU is a private university located in Phagwara, Punjab. Established in 2005 by the LPU Trust, several alumni from this university now enjoy Rs. 1 crore packages in Silicon Valley legends like Apple, Google and Microsoft. This university too, offers UG, PG and doctoral courses in various fields, notable ones being B.Tech. and M.Tech. Other than JEE Main, it also conducts a dedicated entrance test called LPU NEST (National Entrance and Scholarship Test) every year to admit qualified and eligible students for various courses.

Initially founded in 1985 as SRM Engineering Institute, it has definitely spread its wings in the Science, Engineering and Technology fields. The university is particularly recognised for its B.Tech. course in Computer Science & Engineering, Civil Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and many more. Every year, it conducts the SRM Joint Entrance Examination for Engineering (SRMJEEE) for admission to its Engineering courses. However, the university also accepts JEE Main scores for admission process.

Currently known as Pandit Deendayal Energy University, it was established on April 04, 2007, by the Gujarat Energy Research and Management Institute (GERMI). Although the university offers a wide variety of courses, its B.Tech. and M.Tech. programmes are more recognised imn the education world. Admission to B.tech. programmes are based on entrance exams like GUJCET and JEE Main.
#6 KALASALINGAM ACADEMY OF RESEARCH AND EDUCATION
Founded in 1984, this university received the “deemed to be” status October 2006. Ranked 06 in the ARIIA rankings, this university has definitely made a mark with respect to its B.Tech. and M.Tech. programmes. In addition to accepting JEE Main, GATE and NATA scores, this university also conducts its own entrance exam – Kalasalingam Engineering Entrance Exam (KEEE).
Established on July 10, 2012, by an act of Punjab State Legislature, this university received the ‘A+’ accreditation by NAAC in the year 2019. In addition to UG and PG courses in Engineering, this university offers programmes like BBA, BCA, MBA, M.Arch., M.Com and many more. To apply for these programmes, candidates have to appear for the Chandigarh University Common Entrance Test (CUCET). Scores in JEE Main, CAT, GATE and NATA are also considered for admission.

Previously known as Vellore Engineering College, this university offers an impressive 64 Undergraduate, 35 Postgraduate, 16 Integrated, 2 Research and 2 M.Tech Industrial Programmes. It also enjoys presence in branches located in Vellore, Chennai, AP-Amravati and Bhopal. For admission to various Engineering courses, it conducts the VIT Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE). However, it also accepts candidates who have qualified entrance tests like JEE Main and GATE.
Located in Noida, India, the university was established in 2005 by an Act of the State Legislature of Uttar Pradesh. Amity University has also received an ‘A+’ accreditation by NAAC. Although the university offers courses in diverse fields, its B.Tech and M.Tech programmes have increased its credibility exponentially. Students can seek admission either through JEE Main or without, through the Amity Joint Entrance Examination (JEE).
Symbiosis International University, private deemed university is located in Pune, Maharashtra. This university has campuses spread across the country including Pune, Bengaluru, Indore, Nashik and Noida with a recent campus opening at Nagpur in 2019. It is particularly known for UG and PG courses in the fields of Engineering and Management. Although it conducts a variety of course-specific entrance tests, candidates interested in seeking admission for Engineering need to give the Symbiosis International Engineering Entrance Exam (SITEEE).
