Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) has released advertisement number 562, notification no 32/2019 for recruitment to the post of Veterinary Assistant Surgeon in Tamil Nadu Animal Husbandry Service, to fill 1141 vacancies.
Registration and online application form for the post is now available. Last date to apply online is December 17, 2019. However fee can be paid through bank until December 19, 2019. The written exam for VAS recruitment will be held on February 23, 2020, wherein paper I will be held from 10 am to 1 pm and paper II from 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm.
Result will be announced in March 2020. Thereafter certificate upload for verification as well as the certificate verification will take place in April 2020. Then interviews and final selection list issuance will be in May 2020.
As of now, candidates can apply through the one time registration link provided at tnpsc.gov.in, tnpscexams.net, tnpscexams.in. Those who already have OTR profile, can directly fill the online application form for VAS recruitment, whereas those who do not, need to first do one time registration.
The post code is 1695, and service code is 019. The 1141 vacancies advertised does not include 636 vacancies to be filled by temporarily working veterinary surgeons, which means that overall there are 1777 vacancies, however through direct recruitment, 1141 are being filled. The scale of pay for this post is level 21 as per Tamil Nadu revised pay 2017, which is Rs 55,500- Rs 1,75,700.
Upper age limit for applications is set as 30 which will be calculated as on 01.07.2019. However there is no age limit for SC, SCA, ST, MBC, DC, BC, BCM, and destitute widows; though it means that they should not have completed 58 years of age as on the date of notification or at the time of selection and appointment.
Veterinary Assistant Surgeon post requires applicant to have a B.V.Sc degree, which is now known as B.V.Sc and AH degree, and he or she should have also passed Tamil as one of the languages in higher secondary public examination or its equivalent.
TNPSC one time registration fee is Rs 150. For the recruitment, application fee is Rs 200.
Selection shall be in two stages. First will be written exam, and the second will be an oral test in the form of an interview. For final selection, marks of both will be counted.
Written exam for VAS recruitment will consist of two papers, paper I and II. Paper I will be subject paper with 200 questions of 300 marks. It will have questions on animal husbandry and veterinary science of degree standard, and will be of 3 hours duration. Paper II on the other hand will be on general studies with 100 questions of 200 marks. Questions will be on general studies, as expected to be answered by a degree standard candidate, and it will be of 2 hours. Other than that there will be 70 marks for interviews and records.
Out of 570 marks, the minimum qualifying marks for selection will be 171 for SC, SCA, ST, MBC, DC, BC, BCM. For all others, it will be 228.
