Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission 2018 (TNEA 2018) is conducted by Anna University. For this purpose, the university will release the TNEA 2018 random numbers on their official website tnea.ac.in. As per the official sources, the random number generation process will start latest by 4 PM on June 05, 2018 i.e. today. TNEA 2018 random numbers will be released for applicants who registered themselves for admissions into the undergraduate engineering programmes offered at 535 colleges in the state through TNEA. The registration process started on May 03,2 018 and ended on June 02, 2018.
These random numbers are used at the time of seat allotment when two candidates have the same rank and after all the tie-breaking process is exhausted. To check the random numbers candidates have to visit the official website and click on the “TNEA 2018 Random Number” link. Thereafter, they have to enter their TNEA 2018 application number. After successful submission, the TNEA 2018 Random Number will be displayed on the screen.
TNEA 2018 random Number will be of 10 digits.
Only candidates who have successfully registered for Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission will be allotted this number. When all the tie-breaking rule fails candidates will be allotted positions on the merit list according to their random numbers. Therefore, it is important that the candidates login and check their TNEA 2018 random numbers and note it down.
The numbers are random. They are called so as they are generated by a process which is reliable and whose outcome is unpredictable. Each random number thus generated is unique.
TNEA 2018 will be purely based on merit List prepared by Anna University. This merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained in the relevant subjects, namely, Maths, Physics, and Chemistry which will be reduced to 200 (Maths – 100, Physics – 50 and Chemistry – 50). Also, tie-breaking rules will be applied as and when necessary to prepare the final list.
The tie-breaking criteria will be – candidate having a higher percentage of marks in Mathematics will be preferred. If a tie exists even then, the candidate having a higher percentage of marks in Physics will be considered. In case the tie still remains candidate having a higher percentage of marks in the fourth optional subject will be taken into consideration. Even after if the tie remains Age Seniority will be considered. After all these factors if the tie is still existing the Higher Value of Random Number will be preferred.
A total of 42 Facilitation Centres have been set up by TNEA authorities across the state of Tamil Nadu for the process of document verification. TNEA Facilitation Centres (TFSc) are the authorised centers. Furthermore, TFCs also help the candidates who face difficulty while filling the applications online.
Anna University will also release the TNEA 2018 cutoff marks. The cut-offs are made under seven categories namely Open Competition (OC), Backward Class (BC), Backward Class Muslim (BCM), Most Backward Class & Denotified Communities (MBC/DNC), Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Caste (Arunthathiyars) (SCA) and Scheduled Tribes (ST).
A total of 571 engineering institutes are likely to participate in TNEA 2018 counselling. Through TNEA, candidates willing to seek admissions in the undergraduate engineering programmes will be offered seats into the University’s Departments/Constituent Colleges of Anna University, Government and Government Aided Engineering Colleges.
Thye online choice filling and confirmation will begin in the first week of July 2018. The final selection list or the merit list will be made available in the online mode.
