Tata Consultancy Services, one of the largest Information Technology firms in the country is all set to recruit freshers and graduates to fill up huge number of vacancies starting mid July. As per the latest media reports, the TCS is going to hire 40000 new candidates. Citing the spokesperson of the company, latest media reports making the headline has indicated that TCS is not keen to change their hiring policies in the face of the Corona pandemic. In view of the sustainable future of the company, TCS has indicated that it is not worthwhile to postpone current and future hiring process.

Starting tentatively from mid-July, 2020, the largest IT company of India is going to initiate the hiring process to start onboarding 40,000 fresher candidates. The company is deemed to venture into campus hiring to fulfill their 40000 staffing need. Initially, the hiring process is scheduled to be conducted in a phased manner starting from mid-July. However, later on, the company may also start focus on lateral hiring.

EVP and Global Head – Human Resources, Milind Lakkad was cited in reports regarding the official statement about the hiring process. Lakkad indicated that TCS has not recruited new staff in the last quarter which has resulted in the overall numbers coming down. As a result, the company has decided to conduct campus hiring. Initially, the company is aiming to fulfill 40,000 vacancies by hiring freshers from college campuses in what is known as on-campus hiring. Going forward, the company is expected to regulate the hiring process as per demands of manpower.

The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak in India has been reflected through the recent financial statistics posted by TCS. Earlier in July, the company reported a shortcoming of 13.81% net profit during the quarter ending on June 30, 2020. Last year, during the same quarter, the net profit in the actual amount was reportedly Rs 8131 crores. However, owing to the decreased net profits, the company posted a much lower net profit of Rs 7008 crores during the same time period this year.

With the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic evident from the financial statistics of the company, TCS is starting to trace back their path to growth in the quarters to come. The company has assured that they are in continuous connectivity with freshers who have been reassured that their joining process in the company after on-campus selection is scheduled to be concluded soon. The lateral hiring process, which was also paused temporarily due to the pandemic is also being slowly reinitiated as the company sets its future goals.
