BSEB has also provided a one time 10 years age relaxation for STET aspirants, and 8 years for computer science candidates. And it is because of this new eligibility criteria, which will allow previously ineligible candidates to apply, that registrations are available again.
Prior reports had suggested that Patna High Court had asked the board to remove age limit because no TET had been conducted in the state for eight years, and thus those who had been waiting for this long time would be at a disadvantage. Though the age limit has not been removed completely, it has been suitably relaxed.
Rest of the processes related to the teacher eligibility test will remain unchanged. Candidates will have to score 60% in the exam, and SC, ST, OBC, MBC, PWD will get 5% relaxation.
Candidates who wish to, and are eligible to teach classes IX and X should appear in paper 1. Through this exam 5054 vacancies will be filled in each of the subjects english, maths, science, social science, and 3000 in hindi, 1054 in sanskrit, and 1000 in urdu. As per the initial notification, selection will be on the basis of merit list prepared using the marks of the teacher eligibility test. And that number of candidates who will be placed in merit list will be equal to the number of vacancies, though few newspaper reports have said that twice the number of candidates will be placed in merit list; in this matter candidates should go by what BSEB says.
Other than the new age limit, rest of the eligibility criteria specifications remain the same. Exam pattern, syllabus and other details are also unchanged.
