BSEB has re-opened registrations for STET 2019. The official website of the exam is bsebstet2019.in, and there, aspiring candidates can register and fill the form by December 24, 2019, 11.59 pm. The same deadline applies to application fee payment as well.

It has also been officially announced that application form correction will be available from December 25, 2019, to December 26, 2019, 11.59 pm. These are the only details that have been provided on the official website.

In addition, an advertisement in print, in newspapers today show has provided additional information on new exam date, new eligibility criteria, and why the exam timeline was changed.

The new exam date is January 28, 2020. Paper 1 will be held from 10 am to 12.30 pm, and paper 2 from 2 pm to 4.30 pm. There will be biometric attendance system at all exam centres, and phone jammers will be installed there as well.

BSEB has also provided a one time 10 years age relaxation for STET aspirants, and 8 years for computer science candidates. And it is because of this new eligibility criteria, which will allow previously ineligible candidates to apply, that registrations are available again.

Prior reports had suggested that Patna High Court had asked the board to remove age limit because no TET had been conducted in the state for eight years, and thus those who had been waiting for this long time would be at a disadvantage. Though the age limit has not been removed completely, it has been suitably relaxed.

Rest of the processes related to the teacher eligibility test will remain unchanged. Candidates will have to score 60% in the exam, and SC, ST, OBC, MBC, PWD will get 5% relaxation.

Candidates who wish to, and are eligible to teach classes IX and X should appear in paper 1. Through this exam 5054 vacancies will be filled in each of the subjects english, maths, science, social science, and 3000 in hindi, 1054 in sanskrit, and 1000 in urdu. Likewise those who will teach classes XI and XII need to appear in paper 2. Through which, recruitment shall be done to fill 2125 vacancies in english, 2104 in maths, 2384 in physics, 2221 in chemistry, 723 in zoology, 835 in botany, and 1673 in computer science.

All in all there are 25,270 vacancies for class IX and X subject teachers, and 12,065 for class XI and XII subject teachers.

As per the initial notification, selection will be on the basis of merit list prepared using the marks of the teacher eligibility test. And that number of candidates who will be placed in merit list will be equal to the number of vacancies, though few newspaper reports have said that twice the number of candidates will be placed in merit list; in this matter candidates should go by what BSEB says.

Other than the new age limit, rest of the eligibility criteria specifications remain the same. Exam pattern, syllabus and other details are also unchanged.

Editor’s note: The exam date is as per news reports. For final dates, candidates must refer to their admit cards, which will be released once the application form submission and corrections are over.
