The Indian Army will be conducting the shortlisting process for the 59th Short Service Commission Tech course 2022. For that, the candidates have been sent emails with details regarding their SSB centres and dates. Shortlisted candidates who have received emails must select their SSB dates within seven days via the official website – joinindianarmy.nic.in. The course is going to commence in October, 2022 at the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Note that the duration of training will be 49 weeks.
How to select the SSB date?
In case a candidate who had applied for SSC Tech 59 has received an email, then they should select the preferred dates via the official website – joinindianarmy.nic.in. For that, they have to use their registered email ID and password. However, this must be done within seven days. In case a candidate fails to select the SSB date, then they will be allotted a system-generated date automatically.
The shortlisting of candidates has been done as per the cut-off percentage for each engineering discipline or stream. Call-up letters for the SSB interview will also be issued by the respective selection centres via the candidate’s registered email ID and SMS. Note that no request for change in centre will be accepted.
Two-stage selection procedure
All shortlisted candidates have to go through a two-stage selection procedure for the SSC Tech 59 course. They have to clear both Stage 1 and Stage 2. In case any candidate fails to qualify for Stage 1, then they have to return on the same day. The entire duration of the SSB interview is for five days and more details regarding the same are available at joinindianarmy.nic.in. Those candidates who get recommendations after Stage 2 will have to follow a medical examination. As such, the candidates who are recommended by SSB and are declared medically fit are going to be issued a joining letter as per the merit order for training.
The official notification mentions that merely qualifying for the SSB interview will not imply the final selection of the candidates. A merit list of the candidates will be prepared as per the engineering subject or stream based on the marks obtained in the SSB interview. However, if two candidates secure the same marks in the interview, then a tie-breaking criteria will be followed.
This criteria is two-fold. Firstly, the candidate older in age will be given a higher place on the merit list. If the age also remains the same, then the candidate who has secured a higher percentage of marks in the qualifying exam will be given a higher rank in the merit order.
