Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is looking for 12th passed candidates for the post of Stenographer Grade ‘C ‘and ‘D who will be posted at various departments and ministries of India. The interested and eligible candidates can apply online at ssc.nic.in before October 18, 2019.
Candidates applying for stenographer grade C should be between 18 to 30 years and 18 to 27 years for stenographer grade D. To fill the application form, candidates have to register first by submitting few details by which a provisional registration number and password will get generated. Login with the same and proceed to fill the form.
Applications received without the fees will be rejected. Candidates have to submit an application fee of Rs 100. The payment has to be made through BHIM UPI / net banking or by using Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, RuPay credit or debit card or in cash at SBI Branches by generating SBI challan. The fees are exempted for SC / ST / PWD / Women / Ex-Servicemen. Last date to submit the fees is October 20, 2019.

Candidates will be selected on the basis of marks obtained in the Computer Based examination. The CBT of Stenographer grade C and D is due to be held next year, from May 5 to 7, 2020. The exam will be an objective type paper containing questions from General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness and English Language and Comprehension. Since now the candidates know the exam pattern, they can prepare and gear up for the exam accordingly. The minimum qualifying marks in CBT are 30 % for UR, 25 % for OBC / EWS and 20 % for SC / ST / PwD / ESM.
Those who are qualified in the CBT, will be further called for skill test in Stenography. Candidates will be given a dictation for 10 minutes in English or Hindi (as opted by the candidates in the online application form), with a speed of 100 word per minute for the post of grade C and 80 word per minute for grade D. The matter will have to be transcripted on the computer. Candidates who opt to take the Stenography Test in Hindi will be required to learn English Stenography and vice versa after their appointment, failing which their probation may not be cleared by appointing departments.
Candidates who pass the skill test, will be required to appear for document verification (DV) round, wherein candidates have to produce original documents as well as photocopies of educational qualification certificates + marksheets starting from matriculation to the highest qualifications, caste certificate, and all the relevant documents. Final selection and allocation of ministries or departments will be made on the basis of the performance of candidates in CBT and the preference of posts / departments exercised by them at the time of DV.
