Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the SSC Stenographer 2018 notification and application form. Last date to apply online is 19 Nov 2018, 5 PM. Computer based examination will be held from 1 to 6 Feb 2019 as a two hour long examination with multiple choice questions of 200 marks.
To apply online for SSC Stenographer Grade C and D recruitment 2018, candidates need to visit ssc.nic.in and first do one time registration, if not already done, then login to fill SSC Stenographer 2018 application form. The application fee is Rs 100. The commission has made available fee payment modes as SBI challan, net banking, credit card, debit card. Candidates can pay fee in online mode until 21 Nov 2018, 5 PM. And last date to pay fee via SBI challan at designated branches is 26 Nov 2018. All details are available in SSC Stenographer 2018 notification which one can read online.
Candidates must he between 18-30 years old as on 01 Jan 2019 to be eligible for Stenographer Grade C, or between 18-27 years old as on 01 Jan 2019 to be eligible for Stenographer Grade D. Age relaxation is upto 5 years of SC / ST, 3 years for OBC, 10 years for PWD (UR, 13 years for PWD (OBC), 15 years for PWD (SC/ST) and other age relaxation as per notification.
Applicants should have passed class 12 or equivalent examination. Minimum educational qualification must have been obtained by 01 Jan 2019.
One time registration calls for 12 critical details namely Aadhaar details, name, father’s name, mother’s name, date of birth, class 10 exam details, gender, highest level of educational qualification, mobile number, email ID, category, nationality. In addition there are around 10 more fields.
Online application form for every SSC exam is different. For SSC Stenographer 2018, candidates need to fill details such as whether they have knowledge of Stenography, exam centre preferences, medium of skill test, photo, signature.
Applicants will be issued admit card to appear in computer based test. SSC shall issue the same around 2-3 weeks prior to exam at official website ssc.nic.in.
Computer based exam will have 3 parts that are I, II, III. Part I is General Intelligence & Reasoning with 50 questions, 50 marks. Part II is General Awareness with 50 questions, 50 marks. And Part III is English Language and Comprehension with 100 questions, 100 marks. There shall be negative marking of 0.25 mark per wrong answer.
Those who qualify the computer based test will be called for Skill Test in Stenography in which they will be dictated for 10 minutes in English / Hindi at the speed of 100 wpm for Stenographer ‘C’ and 80 wpm for Stenographer ‘D’.
Candidates can exercise preference of Posts / Departments during document verification. At the time of publishing the notification, SSC has not published details of vacancies. However it is clarified that all vacancies of Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and Stenographers Grade ‘D’ are in Ministries/ Departments/ Organizations of Central Government, including their Attached and Subordinate offices located in various States and Union Territories all over the country.
