Staff Selection Commission has finally released the official notification for SSC JHT 2019. Whereas initially it was supposed to be available on last Tuesday, it has come today. Registration for the recruitment to the posts of Junior Hindi Translator, Junior Translator, Senior Hindi Translator, Hindi Pradhyapak has also started today.
SSC JHT 2019 notification outlines the complete schedule of this recruitment. The last date to apply online is September 26. Online fee payment can be done until September 28, which is also the last date to generate offline challan. Fee can be paid via challan at the bank until September 30. SSC will conduct paper I for JHT recruitment on November 26, however date for paper II will be notified later.

The Staff Selection Commission has also released SSC JHT 2019 online application form at ssc.nic.in. In order to apply, one has to first login, or create registration profile and then login, and then fill the online form. Those who have a prior registration at ssc.nic.in need to go to the site, login, then click on apply link in top menu. Then under JHT, click on apply online button next to SSC JHT 2019. Those without an account, can use the new user registration link on the home page.
Through this recruitment, candidates will be placed in six different posts as follows. Junior translator in central secretariat official language service, a level six post. Junior translator in ministry of railway, railway board, a level six post as well. Then there is junior translator in armed forces headquarters, a level 6 post. Junior translator or junior hindi translator in subordinate offices who have adopted model RRs of DoP&T is a level six post too. Senior hindi translator in various central government ministries, departments, offices will be a level seven post through SSC JHT recruitment. And finally comes the post of hindi pradhyapak in the central hindi training institute as a level eight post.
The number of vacancies will be announced in some time, as is done with all SSC recruitment.
Masters degree holder with relevant subjects, and medium in degree level can apply for the posts. The cut off date for determining age limit is January 1, 2020, and on that date, applicants age should not exceed 30 years. However there is relaxation for SC, ST, OBC, PWD and other categories as per government norms. Also to be noted is that in the case of hindi pradhyapak, masters degree is not required.
SSC JHT 2019 has a selection process that comprises of two papers, I and II. Paper I is an objective type paper in computer based test mode. It has general hindi test with 100 questions of 100 marks, and general english also with 100 questions of 100 marks. The paper is of two hours duration. In this paper, there is negative marking of 0.25 for every incorrect answer
Paper II will be a descriptive test consisting of translation and essay, of two hours, 200 marks.
The commission underlines that marks of paper I will undergo normalization as per SSC norms. Also that post exam, the commission will release answer keys, challengable in lieu of Rs 100 per question.
Rs 100, also happens to be the fee for SSC JHT 2019. However fee is exempt for women candidates, and candidates belonging to SC, ST, PWD, ExS categories.
As per the notification, the minimum qualifying marks in paper I and II are 30% for UR, 25% for OBC and EWS, and 20% for others.
For paper I, SSC says, “The questions will be designed to test the candidates‟ understanding of the languages and literature, correct use of words, phrases and idioms and ability to write the languages correctly, precisely and effectively. The questions will be of degree level.”
