Staff Selection Commission (SSC) released the SSC JE 2019 notification today, at ssc.nic.in. Online application has also been released for the recruitment of Junior Engineer for ministries, departments, organizations in the government of India. Last date to apply online is September 12.
The online application is available from today to until last date at ssc.nic.in. It will close on the last date at 5 pm. However, candidates can pay fee in online mode as well as generate challan upto September 14, 5 pm. Payment of fee through challan will go on until September 16. The application fee is Rs 100, payable through BHIM UPI, net banking, credit card, debit card, challan. Fee is exempt for women, SC, ST, PWD, ex-S candidates.
The commission will conduct paper I as computer based test, and paper II as a descriptive test. Exam dates for both shall be announced later. Applicants will be issued admit card via websites of regional and sub-regional offices of Staff Selection Commission.
SSC JE recruitment 2019 is for Junior Engineer civil, mechanical, electrical, quantity surveying and contracts. Candidates who get selection offer through this recruitment will work in organizations such as CWC, CPWD, MES, Farakka Barrage Project, BRO, Central Water and Power Research Station, Directorate of Quality Assurance (Naval), and NTRO.
The upper age limit for candidates to work at CWC, CPWD is 32 years, and for other organizations it is 30 years. It is relaxed by 5 years for SC and ST, 3 years for OBC, 10 years for PWD. Further, depending upon post applying for, applicant must have requisite educational qualification. Broadly a degree or diploma in engineering in relevant branch is required; candidates must go through detailed notification before applying.
Selection for Junior Engineers is on the basis of two papers, namely paper I and II. The first one will be an objective type test of 2 hours. It will have three sections – general intelligence and reasoning, general awareness, general engineering. This paper will have negative marking of 0.25 for every incorrect answer.
The third section in paper I will have three parts A, B, C. Where part A is for civil and structural, part B is for electrical, and part C is for mechanical. Thus depending upon the qualification of applicant and corresponding post applied, relevant part in third section of paper I has to be attempted. First two sections will have 50 questions of 50 marks each, and the third will have 100 questions of 100 marks. Thus the overall paper will have 200 questions of 200 marks.
Paper II will be a descriptive test of 300 marks, to be attempted in 2 hours. It will simply have general engineering questions divided into parts A, B, C. Again, part A will be for civil and structural, part B will be for electrical, and part C will be for mechanical.
The indicative syllabus for both papers are given in the SSC JE 2019 notification. As are other details of how to apply, age relaxation, certificate formats, and various other pieces of information relevant for the recruitment.
Initially the SSC JE recruitment 2019 notification was supposed to be released on August 1 and application form deadline was going to be August 28. However the dates have been shifted a little for undisclosed reasons.
In the previous SSC JE exam, 5,69,930 candidates had appeared (2017-2018). Civil engineering cut offs in that recruitment were 117 for UR, 110.75 for OBC, 101.75 for SC, and 105 for ST. Electrical / Mechanical engineering cut offs stood at 136.25 for UR, 133.25 for OBC, 120 for SC, and 114.5 for ST.
