Staff Selection Commission (SSC), on 16th May 2017, released SSC CGL 2017 notification. Notification of SSC CGL 2017 has been published in a PDF format at the official website It says that SSC CGL 2017 Application Form can be filled from 16th May 2017 and must be submitted by last date 16th June 2017. Those who apply within given dates will be able to appear for Tier I exam. Dates of Tier I exam are from 1st August to 20th August 2017.

Candidates who clear the Tier I exam will then be eligible for Tier II exam which will be on 10th and 11th November 2017. After that there is another stage Tier III descriptive which is on 21st January 2018. This will be followed by Tier IV skill tests for certain posts or document verification.

Government job aspirants had been waiting for the SSC CGL 2017 Notification for a long time. This includes first time job seekers and also those who could not clear SSC CGL last time. The posts offered through SSC CGL 2017 are divided into two types – Pay Band II Rs 9300-34800, and Pay Band I Rs 5200-20200.

Pay Band II posts include Assistant Audit Officer, Assistant Accounts Officer, Assistant Section Officer, Assistant, Assistant Superintendant, Inspector of Income Tax, Inspector Central Excise, Inspector Preventive Officer, Inspector Examiner, Assistant Enforcement Officer, Sub Inspector, Inspector, Divisional Accountant, Junior Statistical Officer.

Pay Band I posts include Auditor, Accountant / Junior Accountant, Senior Secretariat Assistant / Upper Division Clerks, Tax Assistant, Sub Inspector.

A Central Civil post carries the following grade pay :- Rs.5400, Rs.4800, Rs.4600 and Rs.4200 in the scale of pay of Rs 9300 – 34800 in the Pay Band-2. This is in Group B.

A Central Civil post carries the following grade pay :- Rs.2800, Rs.2400, Rs.2000, Rs.1900 and Rs.1800 in the scale of pay of Rs.5200-20200 in the Pay Band-1. This is in Group C.

Age limit is defined for all Pay Band II posts as 18-27 years. For Pay Band I posts age limit varies from post to post and candidates must check it before applying. Age limit will be reckoned as on 1st August 2017.

As per the exam pattern announced,  SSC CGL 2017 Tier I examination will be computer based. It will have 25 questions each on General Intelligence Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, English Comprehension. Each section is of 50 marks. SSC CGL 2017 Tier I will be a 1 hour duration exam.
