SRM University conducts entrance examination for admission of candidates. The examination held for the intake of the candidate in B.Tech and M.Tech courses is called as SRM Joint Entrance Examination for Engineering. It is popularly referred to as SRMJEEE and is conducted at an all Indian level. Earlier, the entrance exam for UG engineering admission was called as SRMEEE and for PG admission it was known as SRMGEET. Last year, the University decided to call both the exams as SRMJEEE UG and PG, as per the course.
Despite the common name the pattern, eligibility, and process of the exam for both the courses differ. To pursue B.Tech from SRM University, the candidate must have qualified 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics / Biology / Botany and Zoology / Biotechnology. Non-Mathematics students may apply for Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering program. SRM does not grant admission to candidates who have completed class 10 and 12 from NIOS.
The candidates must also have been born between July 01, 1997, to July 01, 2002. However, for admission in PG course, the pre-determined age limit falls between July 01, 1993, to July 01, 1998. Apart from these, the candidates also need to fulfill campus-specific criteria of eligibility as well.
The University will invite eligible candidates to apply for the examination in the month of October 2017. The application form will be released online, on www.srmuniv.ac.in. The candidates will be required to enter personal and educational details in it. The form will only be accepted successfully by the University when the candidates will remit the application fee. The amount of SRMJEEE application fee is Rs. 1060 and the candidates will be able to submit it through online payment gateways.
SRMJEEE is held in online mode. According to the chosen stream, the candidates will be required to either attempt PCM or PCB questions in the examination. The number of questions in each section is 35 and will be of multiple choice type. Earlier, the Biology section had 50 MCQs but the recently released notice states 35 questions in Bio section as well.
The candidates will get 2 hours and 30 minutes to solve the question paper, in which each question will carry 3 marks. The advantage for the candidates is that there will be no negative marking.
The exam date for SRMJEEE 2018 has not been revealed yet. Every year, the examination is conducted in April, in a window of multiple days. The candidates are required to book a test date and slot and after that the admit card is allotted to them. The facility of slot booking opens in March and is done on the first come first served basis.
Through SRMJEEE, the admission will be granted in SRM Kattankulathur, SRM Ramapuram, SRM Vadapalani, SRM Ghaziabad, SRM Amravati, and SRM Sonepat campuses. The University conducts a common couselling to provides candidates an opportunity for expressing their choices for the course and campus. The admission is then granted on the basis of merit in SRMJEEE, preference of the candidates, and the number of seats.
